African Leopard (Panthera pardus pardus) Adult forest buffalo killed by a leopard

According to a park ranger, the leopard attacked it on land in which it ran into the water and died. The leopard was still around the camp nearby. If you look closely you can see some claw marks on it's back. This happened in Loango National Park in Gabon.

It is well known that male cats are bigger than the females. Some species have unique traits that differentiates them - lions having manes, tigers having ruffs and leopards having dewlaps.
However, in the leopard's case the results can be shocking to the point you're looking at a different species (early explorers in Central Africa actually thought this was the case!).
