Spherillo Sp. “Dwarf Ducky” these pods are so hard to get pictured as they’re always burrowing 😭 a species on the smaller side, they are very good at hide n seek.

Adopted red panda king some weeks ago. For now everything is going well ( no deaths etc ) they are shy but at night they hang around on their cholla stick.

Terrarium is 50% dry and 50 % wet. BUT i was not sure about my ventilation and wanted to ask if this is good or not. all sides have a row of holes like you see on the picture and the lid I taped 50 % of the holes with tape ( the wet side ) to keep moist inside.

I wanted to ask more experienced people if this is okay. If not feel free to tell me what I need to change !

just had this huge swath of white-footed slime mold spring up in my isopod tank practically overnight, and im a bit overwhelmed as to what to do about it. my tank is pretty new (less than a month old), and i added springtails to the enclosure about a week ago.

ive seen some folks say that mold is just normal for new tanks, and others say that you should use a q-tip with hydrogen peroxide to wipe off any moldy areas, though im not sure how to do that with the spaghnum moss.

any tips on how to deal with this would be greatly appreciated, because i am quite overwhelmed and i don't want to end up with a recurring mold issue. (i'm also hoping to avoid having to replace everything in the tank, especially since it's so new.)

Hi all, I have a bioactive hab for my milk snake in which I *thought* I only had cubaris marina papaya isopods in. However I'm getting ready to refresh my buddy's hab and am trying to get as many of the isopods out as possible beforehand so they don't get injured. In doing so, I've collected around half a dozen isopods that don't look anything like the papayas. Their shape is different, they have orange and brown spots, and seem more serrated on their sides. They can of course stay if they can live peacefully with the papayas, I just want to know what they are! The one in the pics managed to fall on some calcium powder while I was picking it up, and the third pic is to show how different the isopod in question is to one of my papayas. Any help is appreciated, thanks! 😀

I am genuinely very curious about this. So I've just bought my first few Isopods and made them a little terrarium thats going to sit on my desk, with one big difference I have noticed. It is NOT a bin enclosure. I can actually see them and look at them without having to open the lid of an opaque box that sits in a shelf.

Now I want to know because I dont understand it. If you have Isopods why do you put them somewhere that you cant see them with just looking at their container. What's the appeal in the Bin Boxes because I just cant see any in them. For me personally I want to be able to see them and also the pretty enclosure I made for them.

This post is specifically about why so many people keep them in Bin enclosures when you cant see through the plastic.

Hello my isopod terrarium has these tiny, spring tail size tiny bugs. I dont think they are spring tail as they dont jump, they also look more like tiny beetles they have a head and body separate, the body is darkish iridescent color like beetles would be. Two antena and little legs. They dont look like mites either. I believe they came in on the moss, and maybe native to eastern pennsylvania. Help!

I was decorating my terrarium last minute and one of the rocks accidentally got micro fish pellet (like 2 bits) on them and ome of my powder blue idopods ate it ☹️☹️ will they be oaky??

I know the general rule is remove veg that's not been eaten in 24 hours, but as the video attached shows, 4 days later and here's still so much life on these sweet potato slices (springtails and fungus gnat larvae (boo) and potentially some mancae)

I understand it gets mouldy, but if detritivores are eating the detritus, should I be removing it?

I also understand it can affect ammoia levels, but have seen no signs of this (or smelt!).

So how swanky is TOO skanky or is it just when they get bored and stop eating it? Or is 24 hours a hard and fast?

So many!! Establishing my colony slowly, holy cow do they explode fast. I’ll need a bigger tank soon!!

The specific humidity settings and size of the moisture gradient depends on the species I am keeping.

Each species has it’s own 5.5 gallon enclosure which is 16”x 8”x 10” which seems to be working quite well.

Currently I have Armadillidium klugii, Armadillidium maculatum, Cubaris sp. "Cappuccinos" and Cristarmadillidium muricatum in these enclosures, all are doing really well. The Cappuccinos are a bit slow to breed compared to the two three which have exploded in population.

I also have Porcellionides pruinosus, Armadillidium granulatum and Trichorhina tomentosa as cleanup crews in separate bioactive enclosures.

haii ! please dont take this post ttooo seriously because i dont really know much about the hobby or anything, im just curious because i potentially want to find some pods of my own and create a colony. probably the dumbest post on this sub, im sorry TmT

So I‘m thinking of getting isopods and I know a lot about them but I’m genuinely wondering; what do you do when there‘s too many?

Hey all, didn’t really know where else to put it but I’ve noticed something with my anole Terrarium. I’ve added quite a few different critters in there, and I made some mistakes with it.

I have ivory millipedes, dubia roaches (experimenting with feeding them to the anoles, didn’t work, hides too much), powdered orange isopods, canyon giant isopods, and dairy cows, as well as the ubiquitous springtails. Crickets sometimes show up, usually those missed by the anoles.

I’ve realized after the fact that the dairy cows are extremely protein oriented and while they haven’t gotten the populations yet after two months, they are very rapidly growing in population.

What can I expect to see in the next few months? What timeline am I looking at? Will the dairy cows collapse the ecosystem on top of them? What long lasting protein should be added to prolong the dairy cows from absolutely annihilating everything else?

Is there a way to feed my isopods without also feeding the springtails that are also in the enclosure? I have about 5ish Puerto Rican spikeys but an enormous population of springtails. Since the spikeys are so small I'm worried the springtails will out compete them. I know they are *supposed* to live together peacefully, but the spikeys were not cheap. Any advice?

I used to feed them to my dog but she didn’t like them, but they seem like something my dairy cows would like? Are they ok to feed them?
