Offering or Asking Music Recs Synthpop Discovery Thread Revisited - Comment an Artist You Like and Get Recommendations
This is a new version of the previous Synthpop Discovery Thread, which you can find right here.
With a recent influx of people joining, I thought it would be a good time to bring this back.
How it works:
Comment an artist, song, or album you already like, and other people can reply with recommendations that match your taste.
You don’t have to stick to synthpop either. If you mainly listen to music outside the genre, feel free to mention those artists or genres. It might help someone find a more specific recommendation for you.
Feel free to engage with other comments too. If someone mentions an artist or song you know, you can jump in with a recommendation of your own. You might find someone with similar tastes, and each comment can turn into its own little discussion focused on a specific style of the genre.
Starter album mention:
To get things started, here are a few albums from artists that are especially loved within synthpop circles and make good starting points:
• The Man-Machine — Kraftwerk
• Architecture & Morality — Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD)
• Actually — Pet Shop Boys
• Violator — Depeche Mode
• Imaginal Disk — Magdalena Bay
Synthpop is a much broader genre than the familiar 80s classics that tend to dominate discussion here. There are different scenes, eras, and sounds worth exploring, so don’t feel limited to the obvious choices.
Why?
Streaming algorithms and AI recommendations can easily keep you circulating around the same major artists and songs. This thread is meant to do the opposite: discover music through people who actually know and love the genre.
So, leave an artist, song, or album of synthpop or even a completely different genre below, see what other people are looking for, and help each other discover something new!

This is a very relevant song in today's age, it was also really cool in GTA: Vice City Stories.

Discussion Do You Know Who I Think Gets Overlooked in Modern Synthpop?
Ronnie Martin from Joy Electric.
He doesnt have the best singing voice, but I think low key, he's a synth genius. A lot of stuff may sound a bit saccharine, but when he hits, he hits.
I would kinda put him in the category of progressive pop in a way. His theming, concepts, melodies, and most notably, how he does his rhythms. He told stories, had word play, etc.
His work goes all the way back to the mid 90s and he still does stuff, even if it's not in the same vein as his old stuff. He has a LOT of material, from EPs, to side projects.
I liked My Grandfather The Cubist, Ministry of Archers, Hello Mannekin (Nikola Tesla, and Who Are Friends are my favorite songs from there). Tick Tock Treasury has a bit of an industrial, though very poppy, edge rhythm wise.
And then The White Songbook is more progressive, I'd say.
But been following his stuff for a good while (discovered his music in the middle 2000s). It feels like he was way ahead of the curve when it came to current synthpop.

Live Hurts - Unspoken (Live @ Rock am Ring 2011)
Youtube recommended me his video for WONDERFUL LIFE so I kept listening to his other stuff. I really love his voice. I don't know much about him yet. Any other recommended songs by him?
