Been lurking here for a while and this question comes up constantly, will x or y game run on my Mac. And the answer is always someone's one time experience, no resolution, no settings.
So i spent the last few weeks building https://iplayonmac.com/ . It's basically a catalogue of Mac games where the FPS numbers come from people who actually played them on their own machine, not from me guessing.
You pick your chip and RAM and it shows you roughly where you'd land. There's also a compare view if you want so see how an M1 stacks up against an M5 on the same games.
Only has 8 games right now because i literaly launched it today, so it's pretty empty still. That's kind of the point though, it only gets useful if people actually submit numbers. Also users need to manually submit the games, so it only shows games that actually run on mac.
Every game page has a report button, takes about 3 steps if you've got something installed.
Not selling anything, it's free and not planning to monetize it. Just wanted something betther than scrolling through 5 year old thread to guess if a game runs decently.
Happy to hear what's missing or what you'd want to see. There will be a few updates coming soon

Charting the Unknown is currently not planned for Mac release, despite a great Mac port for the base game being available at launch. This is the statement from the developers: Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown will not be available on Mac App Store at launch.
Should the content be planned for release on Mac in the future, we will provide a separate announcement with further details.
In other words, a Mac release is not completely ruled out, but the way I read they will not commit to it either.
Mac gamers investing so much time in a game like this and then being left out of a big paid DLC feels bad. I feel like this case has a big symbolic importance to for Mac as a gaming platform, so please, if you care about this at all, consider leaving the devs your thoughts on the matter.

This is GTA 5 Enhanced with Crossover 27 Preview and Epic Games Launcher. I can help you out with further research and optimisation on your machine and we can simply publish a list of the optimal settings for each config. I've already been testing out Game Mode support for Crossover games and I intend to open source that as well. It helps reduce the wireless controller and audio latency even further. GPTK4 and Metal4 are truly spectacular.

Please note: A patched CrossOver is not supported by CodeWeavers. Problems should be reproduced with an unmodified CrossOver before contacting their support.

Ive seen posts from previous years talking about downloading emulators and other tools. But I want to know how you can TWDG on Mac in 2026.

Some of you guys might have seen my earlier posts here porting 32 bit games such as Portal 2 to Apple Silicon by tricking Rosetta into running it and adding compatibility shims. I thought I’d try the same approach on Star Wars The Force Unleashed.
This is still WIP, as you can see from the video there is many audio / stuttering problems and shader bugs but I just thought it’s cool that we can get this far.
Edit: Oh yeah, also I added in non-Xbox 360 controller support in this port. I am playing with a Dualshock controller in this video.

I recently saw "Doom Raytraced" and would like to play it on my Mac. I have both an M4 Pro MBP and a M4 Max Studio. What would I need to do to get this to run on my machines? I know that they are plenty powerful enough and I know that Macs do not have Vulkan, so is there a way? Thank you so much for any help.

I've found a guide on how to get Star Trek online on a Macbook (here) (yes I know it's from 2016 but I haven't found a better guide), but it begins with downloading a WINE. The best free one it recommends is PlayOnMac. I tried downloading it but the file is listed as corrupted and won't move to my applications folder. Is there a better source for PlayOnMac or a better WINE? Am I doing something wrong, or is my source and method too dated?
There's about 10k different cool free games I've seen on Steam that aren't available of my stupid Macbook, so even beyond Star Trek Online, it'd be really great to have some way to use windows applications on it. Thanks so much for your help!

If I understand correctly Rosetta 2 is still available for games, so I want to confirm that includes Crossover itself?
I see Codeweavers have made great progress with their ARM64 build but it‘s not yet completed. Is the idea at this stage that Crossover will continue working in macOS 27 with Rosetta 2 - then in time when the ARM64 build is completed (including D3D Metal / Direct3D 12 support) Crossover will simply run natively without Rosetta?

Hi all,
My son wants to upgrade his gaming setup. Currently running a pc laptop where he mostly is on Roblox, Minecraft, but plays Fortnite through Xbox gaming online or steam.
He really likes the PC look (big box with exposed fans and lights), but also really likes my setup (iMac, MacBook Pro, etc continuity).
I know you can play Fortnite (and most future games he might be interested in) on a Mac using Xbox gaming. But I’m unsure if a Mac mini is overkill, if a MacBook Air is enough, or if a MacBook Pro is perfect or overkill.
Would appreciate any thoughts.

Hi everyone — I’m the developer of Mac Mod Manager.
Resident Evil 4 has a native Apple-silicon version, but most of its Mod ecosystem was created for Windows. I built Mac Mod Manager to make compatible Mods easier to use on macOS without Terminal commands or manually rebuilding PAK files.
The app can:
- Import Mod archives by selecting or dragging them into the library
- Inspect and convert compatible PC Mod resources for the native Mac version
- Detect file conflicts before installation
- Organize optional components and multi-level Mod packages
- Build and apply managed PAK patches
- Uninstall Mods and restore a clean managed state
- Submit compatibility reports when a Mod needs more work
The current release focuses on Resident Evil 4 Remake. Support for RE2, RE3, Village and RE7 is planned, but those modules are not available yet.
A few important limitations:
- Apple silicon Macs only; Intel Macs are not supported
- A legitimate copy of the native Mac game is required
- Windows-only RE Framework plugins, DLL Mods, trainers and executable patches cannot run on macOS
- Compatibility varies because many Mods were made specifically for the PC game build
- The app does not include or redistribute game files or third-party Mods
There is a free Community Edition for trying the core workflow. Paid editions add batch importing, multiple simultaneous Mods, loadouts and advanced management. The RE4 Edition is US$9.99, and the early-supporter All Games V1 Edition is US$19.99.
I would really appreciate feedback from other Apple-silicon players. If you test it, please let me know your Mac model, macOS version, game version, the Mod you tried and whether it worked correctly.

Hi everyone! I'm the developer of Valley Rangers, which has just launched on Mac and iOS. It's a native Mac game where you play as a little robot Ranger and explore generated valleys at your own pace.
You can wander through four different biomes, pet the wildlife, take postcard photos and record discoveries in your journal. There are little places to find off the trails, changing weather, and plenty of ways to customize your Ranger. You can play alone or explore with other players online.
It's free on the App Store:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/valley-rangers/id6802082322
I've attached a few screenshots from the Mac version. If you give it a try, I'd love to hear what you think — what you enjoyed, what felt confusing, or what you'd like more of. Feedback from people actually playing will help me decide where to take it next.

Tried Dota 2, League of legends:they do run and give decent fps, but lags here and there, but I really dont enjoy MOBA that much, too much grind they need.
Minecraft runs good, but cmon i have already done everything in that its repetitive now.
I scrolled through steam, epic, didnt find a single good game which runs on this.
Recently installed sikarugir to try CS2, but again that sucks too.
Is there anything good which actually runs? pls help
I got a M4 macbook, 16 gb

So I've been big about the gaming on Mac scene. I enjoy the games that have an anti-cheat, so obviously Cloud Gaming is the only viable solution with me having an M1 Macbook Air.
As we know, xbox.com/play has a bunch of tracking issues with the macOS cursor. My solution?
These steps together solved my input delay with XCloud on macOS. This does mean we lose access to BetterXCloud, however I think they have this new site on their roadmap (correct me if I'm wrong)

About darn time. :)
Red Faction Guerilla is one of those games that I've always had on local storage because of it's gameplay. Sure, graphics are now dated...but you can't put a time stamp on good gameplay. Pretty sure I originally purchase this (not the remake) back in 2011.
Game currently on sale at STEAM for $20 (Remake).
(There is a reason this 17 year old game is still $20. It's fun as all heck)
Steps below
MacOS Sequioa 15.7.9
Crossover 26.3 (a modded copy of Crossover with the DXMT folder edited)
By Modded... I did the following
(Did this to get Shadow of War working)
Make a copy of your Crossover app (right click...duplicate)
Then...right click on the duplicate (rename the duplicate whatever you like) and then choose "show package content"
Then CONTENTS/SharedSupport/Crossover/Lib/DXMT
You're going to replace the three folders of within DXMT
(Mind...I'm not sure this is why Red Faction now works without the sun glare on the faces that use to be the bug)
This is where you get those files
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1uT-9KwjTi_iOnix_IFIe26x34BUpCXy4
(I highly recommend saving this. It's a DMXT dev build .80)
After that...Shadow of War worked...and I assume that's why this now works. (Might be wrong...but the game now works regardless)

It's one of my all time favorite games, and I'd love to run it on my MacBook - Crossover crashes on startup.
Thankfully, the game works on my Steam Deck, so getting it running on the Mac is just a nice to have thing!
