I had an interview today at a company in Noida.

The interview went really well. I answered every question they asked. At the end, the interviewer literally told me:

“You are technically fit and strong for this role.”

I thought, great, I’m through to the next round.

Then came the rejection.

Reason? I’ve worked at 4 organisations in 5 years.

What makes this even more frustrating is that 2 of those 4 organisations shut down.

So apparently, I’m being penalised for companies shutting down?

What was I supposed to do? Stay there after the company closed just so my resume could look “stable”?

If someone has changed jobs but kept learning, improving their skills and can actually do the work — why should the number of companies on their resume matter more than their actual capability?

Meanwhile, someone can spend 5–10 years in the same organisation, barely upgrade their skills, and still get the “stable candidate” tag.

Maybe we should start asking candidates what they can do instead of just counting how long they stayed at their previous company.

Curious to know what people here think — especially recruiters and hiring managers.

Would you reject a technically strong candidate purely because they changed 4 companies in 5 years?

I wanted a tech branch so I didn't filled any branches other than CSE IT AI/ML but all things have changed i didn't get college which I wanted

I am going for spot for government College of Aurangabad and I have 93.1 percentile I can get core branch like mechanical and civil but not cse or it and like entc is on the edge

So which branch I should choose if I want to like focus on coding and like software companies

Which branch would be easy and all

PLEASE HELP!!!!

So, basically what i think is my interest is in mechanical engineering as i get more fascinated by manufacturing/production/industrial things but recently i got admitted in Haryana(IND) state government university (YMCA) in cse (hindi). The course is officially listed as Computer Science Engineering(Indian Language). This will be written in the final degree and marksheet however the HINDI is just in the name of the couse but everything goes in english as coding can't be done in any other language and the exams will also be held in english. So language is'nt the issue but im also not sure whether this would create problem in the future or not.

I took it because of the exposure of cse only but i dont think i took right decision as iam more inclined towards mechanical but when i think about my interest in mechanical it creates more confusion about future as mechanical is a field based work and cse is office based.

My goal is to setup a manufacturing/production plant of something in future. This is my goal and this is my dream also so but if things do not go that way then i will be left with my degree only with a hope for a good high-paying job and i dont think or dont know whether that could be possible with a mechanical degree so there the point of cse wins.

There will be going another counselling in my uni for branch change if seats are vacant in that particular branch we can change our branch so right now iam confused ,if i got chance so should i change from cse to mech or should stay in cse. This will be the last counselling most probably so this single decision will let my future decide.

For context i refused eee in a tier upper tier2 cllg for a mech in tier1 govt college

I did bcz ;

1. The tier2 cllg eee placements were in 4 lpa range and many them pushed to cse tht too cse intake is 2.2 k there so imagine the compitation

2. Fees

Placements stats of my cllg (mech ) are gud and better than cse in some cllg and placement percentage is 96

I do have interest i have started to do research in each I feel gud learning not forced to take mech totally my choice

But when I say anyone I took mech then make faces and just don't really consider me as equal idk 😭😭 they say I have made a huge mistake by leaving eee , since eee has scope and better crowd blah blah

But I literally show them placements scenario they still don't understand and i am starting to loose my confidence

I need to know from someone with real experience to tell me I did i mistake or not

(My cllg is not nit iit it's a top star university I would like to not name it )

Guys does it was same for you or is it just me because my first day at btech was worst than I expected. I was bored af during whole day. I never imagined my first day would be that traumatizing.....every teacher just said about how the first year work and it is All about submission and marks😭😭.Only classes for 8 hours is not I was expecting from my college life.And all this efforts for 4 lpa.3 years ago the guy who want IIT is completely feeling guilty for not getting even tier 2 college. Pata nahi 4 years kaise nikalunga....Plz give me tips to keep my interest in this 4 years 🙏🙏😭

I have my KPIT ass. engineer round 1 exam on 9th(Pune).

In the mail it says:

• WET (Written English Test)

[Basically they will check grammar and how you write based on given topics.]

• Cognitive

[General Apti like Indiabix and other]

• Domain

[CS essentials. OS, CN, DBMS, OOPS, SDLC, Cloud and any other I missed] main focus.

• Coding

[2 medium level questions they say] also imp to solve.

What do you guys think should be important to prepare considerin time remainin?
From where can we revise CN and OOPS?

A doubt on how should i maintain a email

Hey everyone,
I’m an iOS developer with around 1 year 3 months of professional experience, and I’ve been thinking a lot about which direction I should take my career in.
I’m currently confused between:
1. Continuing to specialize in frontend/iOS development
2. Starting to learn backend development and gradually moving towards a more full-stack/backend-oriented role

My thought process is that backend seems to have a larger number of openings and, at least from what I’ve seen/heard, potentially better compensation and growth opportunities at higher experience levels.
I’m also wondering how much AI will affect frontend vs backend development over the next few years. It seems like AI is getting increasingly good at generating UI, components, and a lot of the repetitive frontend work, which makes me wonder whether being only a frontend/mobile developer could become more difficult in the future.

My current idea is something like:
Stay in my current role → learn backend alongside my job → get an opportunity to work on 1–2 reasonably strong backend projects internally → build some real experience → then switch companies.
But I’m not sure if this is actually a good strategy or if I’m overthinking it.

For people with 5+ years of experience, hiring managers, senior engineers, or people who have made a similar transition:
Would you recommend staying specialized in iOS/frontend, or learning backend and moving towards full-stack?
Is backend actually better in terms of opportunities/compensation, or is that just a perception?
At ~1–2 YOE, is it worth switching domains or should I build deeper expertise in my current stack first?
How do you see frontend/mobile vs backend being affected by AI over the next 5–10 years?

If you were in my position today, what would you do?
I’m not necessarily looking for the “highest paying” path. I mainly want to make a decision that gives me good career growth and keeps me employable long-term.
Would really appreciate perspectives from people who have been in the industry for a while.
