I wanted to bring up an issue with Mind Flay on Warmane (icecrown).
This used to work differently on Warmane. When a Shadow Priest was channeling Mind Flay and the target:
- Shapeshifted as a Druid
- Used PvP trinket
- Activated Bladestorm as a Warrior
the Mind Flay channel would continue dealing damage, but the movement slow would be removed.
In other words, the effect that removed the slow did not completely cancel the Mind Flay channel. The Priest would continue channeling and dealing damage, but Mind Flay would no longer apply its slow.
However, after a change made to the server, these interactions now completely interrupt Mind Flay. The entire channel is lost, including the remaining damage.
I don't believe this is how the interaction should work. If an effect removes the slow from Mind Flay, it should remove the slow — not interrupt the Priest's already active channel and prevent the remaining damage from being dealt.
This is particularly noticeable with the PvP trinket. It doesn't make much sense that the target using a trinket to remove the slow would also cause the Priest's Mind Flay to be interrupted and lose the remaining damage of the spell.
The same applies to Druid shapeshifting and Warrior Bladestorm.
What used to happen on Warmane
Mind Flay → target removes the slow:
- Slow is removed.
- Mind Flay continues channeling.
- Remaining damage is still dealt.
- No new slow is applied.
What happens now
Mind Flay → target removes the slow:
- Slow is removed.
- Mind Flay is completely interrupted.
- The remaining damage is lost.
I previously reported this on the Warmane forums, but the thread was closed without any response or explanation.
I'm posting here because I'd like to know if anyone else remembers the old behavior or why have they changed that interaction in this way.
