Honestly, Genichiro is easily one of the best and most satisfying bosses in Sekiro. His fight is where the game’s combat truly clicks, and his raw design is just unmatched.

Really wanted to push this monochrome sumi-e style further after the last project, mixing heavy ink splatters with clean tactical typography.

I had posted in this sub before that I almost gave up on Sekiro because of the Seven Ashina Spears, and yesterday I just beat the monkey on my second try lol.

That was the easiest fight in the game for me, not kidding. I know the reputation this boss has among players, so I was surprised. I didn't watch any tutorials or look up any tips, just walked into the area and fought.

i believe if you play the game as how it's intended to from the start like learning and understanding the game mechanics, instead of trying to cheese or avoid bosses you'll learn the mechanics and master them soon. as the game progresses you'll face different types of bosses, different fighting styles which will hone your skills further. if you play the game like this, you'll have no problem beating the final boss. cuz bosses are much harder in your learning phase, once you master the mechanics they are easy.

just be calm, try to understand the boss's moves, patterns, analyse your own attacks too, and don't be overwhelmed by the boss like "i can't beat it, it's the SWORD SAINT, one of the hardest boss of fromsoft".

ik many will disagree with me and it's totally fine. i understand it. it's just my opinion i formed by beating the game. have a great day.

I am currently starting Ng++++(fourth run) this might be unpopular opinion. I loved that shura ending, yes yes, Sakura kills everyone but dang that picture is fire lol.

I also know this has been asked before, I am on my fourth run and platinum is two trophy’s away. I am dreading finishing the game. I loved this game, I haven’t played since the 90s, picked this game up because it was on sale on steam. But what the hell am I suppose to play once I am done? What even comes close? I am now scared I will pick up a game and find it boring, or not challenging gong enough. Any thoughts?

surprisingly only took me 2 attempts

I mean I beat him at the top of the castle and it was a really good fight. But I am at the final fight now, and he is like just a frustrating barrier to a better boss fight here. I mean I can easily beat him every time but every time he costs one of my healing gourds. I can fight isshin till the final phase I can learn all his moves. But Genichiro somehow always achieves to catch me off guard one time.

For once I don't have to cut out any of the fight and can show the full thing.

I am a new sekiro player i defeated gyoubu but I am stuck on blazing Bull i can't even read his attacks and I keep getting stuck everywhere🥲

I got most of his parry timings and gizmos(atleast first phase) but its so tiring he barely got openings, these are the things i learnt.

1. Dodge his post double shuriken attack and Double ichimongi it( I don't use mortal blade cause ichimoji recovers posture).

2. When he rushes at you with a bit tilted angle he will toss the curse bomb attack him instantly after deflecting that rush and run away

3. If posture broken he'll try to stomp instantly try to dodge and counter him.

Now, back to the boss eventhough he got these patterns its still so hard to get through his phase one I have fought him like 50 times and only got through his phase 1 like 10, He builds posture so quick its like if you failed to deflect even once you'll be posture broken. By the end of first phase my thumbs have almost given up because it takes so long.

Second phase i am finding hard to manage through the poison cause it lingers around far too long and if I lose focus for a second he rushes me amd it only takes like two swings by him to kill me.

I require two suggestions

1. How can I increase the speed of phases

2. How can I avoid poison

3. How to avoid being posture broken( i know just deflect it all is the answer but a single fail should be spared).

Started and given up on this game several times now. This is the furthest I ever made it. Currently at the fountainhead palace and feeling optimistic. Woman tells me to go in underwater cave to get in the palace. Sure things. Theres just a big gold fish or smthing maybe. Let me tell you no game has triggered my thalassophobia so bad. Holy shit the first time that thing lunged at me I nearly pissed me self. Guardian ape ain’t nothing compared to this insurmountable obstacle.

I recently achieved 100% completion in Sekiro: Shadows Die first ever game that I have 100% in 98hrs and cleared all the Gauntlets of Strength, but I still can't get enough of it. So glad I pushed through after getting beaten down by Genichiro early on, because this has quickly become my favorite game of all time. After running through NG+2 and NG+3, the base game feels so easy that it honestly feels too short once you master the combat, and it definitely deserved a DLC. I've already started a fresh playthrough on an alt account to do the Shura ending and am currently attempting a Charmless run (currently stuck on Guardian Ape). Mixing up different Combat Arts and Prosthetic Tools keeps everything fresh, but ruined other games for me—my goal now is to master this game like the YouTubers do, and I really hope we get another game with these exact combat mechanics in the future!
