Watch Verification Thread - If you're uncertain if a Rolex is good/bad/fake, post info and pics here

Upvotes

Post to this thread if you have questions about a Rolex being real or fake. Please include:

-The location and/or screen name of the seller, if for sale. Link directly to the sale page when possible.
-How long you've had it and how you acquired it, if in your possession
-As many photos as possible. Posts may be removed if pictures are too fuzzy and requests for better pics are unanswered. -If you're being coy about a watch and it seems like you're just trying to see how "good" your fake is, you may be banned at our discretion.

Please don't use photos from iPhone 14's. Their camera is so bad, and distorts text with AI so much, that the photos are basically unusable for the purposes of verifying if a Rolex is real.

Participation in the discussion in this thread is greatly appreciated. I don't think any one person can catch every flaw or know the details of every model; this is meant as a community thread, not an authoritative knowledge-flex, and the more people that actively peruse this thread, the more likely posters are to get accurate info.

Previous verification thread here.

AD Wait Time Megathread - If you bought a new Rolex from an AD in 2026, you can share details here. What watch, where, how long did you wait, how much buying history?

Upvotes

Our previous AD wait time megathreads (2019-2020, 2020-early 2021, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025) seemed to be useful/well-received for a lot of you. Time for a new one!

Nowadays when someone posts a new watch it's pretty standard to get asked how long they waited and if they had an "established relationship" etc. It's not everyone's favorite topic but it's a fair question, so maybe these big threads can provide a clearer picture of availability trends.

No one is obligated to share their info but if you bought a new Rolex in 2026 and you'd like to participate, please make a top-level comment that includes:

  1. What watch did you buy?
  2. When?
  3. How long did you wait?
  4. Where are you? (Be as specific or nonspecific as you want, from continent to a specific AD)
  5. Any purchase history with that AD? (Again be as specific or nonspecific as you feel comfortable)

Labor Day Luck!!

Can’t believe it. Wife and I were on the way to get the car washed and decided to pop in to the jewelry store randomly. They’ve always been awesome to us and we like to stop by randomly to see if there are any interesting pieces for Christmas/birthday/anniversary etc.

End of the day Saturday before the long weekend we went in about an hour before close and were just meandering. I was bullshitting with the staff while my wife looked at tennis bracelets.

We were about to leave when they gave us the old “hey got something cool to show you” and brought out the Daytona. Was a bit confused since I’ve seen it but hadn’t spent much hands on time with it so took another gander. Then our woman gave us a sheepish grin and said “[owner] says it’s yours if you want it”.

I wanted it 😀.

Land/Air/Sea collection complete.

Happy Labor Day!

Seeking Advice

I know this is a repeat question for most, but I’d like some advice on whether I should go with the Explorer II or Mk1 Starbucks Submariner mainly based on how it fits on my wrist. Appreciate your inputs!

Visited a AD during a work offsite a couple of weeks ago… very pleasant experience and placed my interest for this and another watch.

A week(!) later got a call saying they had one available.

Luckily already had a family vacation planned this weekend in the same area so was able to pick it up this weekend.

Wife and I came to NYC for the US Open. Got a wild hair and decided to go grey and fulfill a lifelong goal of buying my first Rolex. Couldn’t be happier and celebrating with a termie in LGA on our way out. Cheers.

What’s a surprisingly rare modern Rolex reference and dial combo?

Post image
Upvotes

When I was searching for a OP39 114300 with the red grape dial, I was astonished with how few examples were available online.

Today on Chrono24, there are less than 30 listings worldwide for this model.

Are there any other modern steel Rolex watches which are rarer on the resale market than you initially suspected?

I’m curious what you’ve all noticed recently, specifically for modern steel Rolex.

Got the call on AD priority list?!

Post image
Upvotes

Yeeee! I just picked up the new two-tone Everose Datejust with the updated Roman numeral dial (ref. 126231). My AD reached out just two months after I requested this exact 2026 model! I think the new Roman numerals give the dial a more modern, spacious feel while maintaining its timeless look.

Having previously purchased two Rolexes from my AD, I was fortunate to be placed on her “priority list.” Each time, I requested just one model I was blessed to be allocated it within 2-4 months. Next visit will be the stainless steel Daytona and hopefully, it won’t be too long before it reaches my wrist.

Am i obsessing but i just got my brand new 2026 rolex daytona , on the bezel , i feel the the word “PER” in units per hour is more faint than other engravings ,however if i put a flashlight on it , its all clear and well engraved with same color , is it something to do with the shadowing/room light? Am i tripping or is it something wrong?

Hey everyone, I inherited this watch when my Pops passed in 2021. I know nothing about this watch or Rolex in general. Just looking for info on it. ChatGPT thinks it’s from the 70s? Pretty sure my Dad purchased in the early/mid 90s. Thanks!

I love horology, but I have to ask: Why modern Rolex?

Post image
Upvotes

I promise I am not here just to hate. I genuinely love horology, I have a solid collection, and yes, I can afford the grey market premiums if I wanted to. But as someone who genuinely loves watches, I have to ask: why modern Rolex?
I respect what the Crown has done for watch culture and horological history. They make a fantastic luxury tool watch. But so do about fifteen other brands.
I completely understand the appeal of a vintage piece or a family heirloom. What baffles me are the lengths people go to for a modern release. If we remove the resale value and investment aspect from the equation, what are we left with? Let us just look at the watches themselves, the AD games required to get them, and what the competition offers.
Not that long ago, Rolex was basically what Tudor is today. They were incredible tool watches a regular person could save up for and pass down. Modern Rolex is a different beast. People act like the Daytona is the undisputed king of chronographs, the OP is the only entry into luxury, and the Submariner is the only dive watch in existence. They are all great watches. If you genuinely love the aesthetic, I am stoked for your collection.
But today, you can walk into an AD and leave with competitors that are objectively just as good, if not better, and often with a solid discount. Look at Zenith. The Chronomaster Sport is phenomenal, the movement finishing is beautifully on display, it tracks 1/10th of a second, and Zenith literally supplied the movement for the automatic Daytona. Look at Grand Seiko. The Evolution 9 pieces have handmade details and dial finishing an Oyster Perpetual could only dream of, and Spring Drive is a massive piece of horological history. Look at Blancpain or Glashütte Original. They make some of the finest dive watches in the game. A SeaQ punches way above its weight class with finishing that encroaches on Holy Trinity territory.
Most importantly, there is originality in wearing those pieces. There is not much originality in chasing the default watch that everyone and their mother wants.
So, Rolex enthusiasts, I ask you: beyond the hype and the crown logo, why modern Rolex?

I finally got my hands on the 127610 GMT watch I've been longing for. Which of these three watches do you like best?

Got the call!

Post image

Well, not really a call… I finally decided to put my name in for the GMT II root beer to celebrate a milestone. I texted my amazing AD letting him know, and that I’d even be willing to buy the exhibition model if he’s willing to sell it - knew this was a long shot but I’m not good at waiting. I told him I’d be in the area in the afternoon with my daughter, and wanted to swing by to show her the watch (trying to foster a love for timepieces at a young age). He didn’t respond to my text, but figured since I was here I’d swing by anyway. When we got there, the AD (and the other SAs) welcomed me and my daughter warmly. He said he had a watch for her, but not for me 🤣. And then when we sat down, he told me he read my text and that he’s going to go in back to grab the watch. I couldn’t believe it! It was so special with my daughter there, too. So happy!
