I usually put the 380 version of the 50gr civil de2buller on 357 Sig, but I have a few cases of the 9mm version too. It's a little too long but there's more room in the case for powder. More powder means more power right?

Doing some load development on friends 22-250 AI I never thought it would be this fast. The load I stopped going up in charge was 42.3gr. of 3031 with 36gr. Varmint Grenades . That’s 3/8 AR500 plate it punched holes in.

I told the guy I wanted pissin hot.. he got me pissing HAWT!

57 grains of Vhit N550 and a 35 grain bullet.

The previous shot of 4944 is with a 40 grain with 56.5 grains N550 behind it.

I was inspired by another post here by u/JustPassingItBy a few days ago to try sabots.

.45 win mag, 3D printed sabots, 55 & 69gr .223 bullets, lubed, gas check.

Quickload says about 1600-1700 f/s with 13gr N340.

We'll see tomorrow :)
UPDATE: I learned a lot, but...

• The cartridges chambered and fired (good)
• The 55grs even fit the magazine (good)
• The gun did not cycle (not unexpected)
• The speed was way off. Measured at 160 m/s (525 fps). I don't know if that was just wrong, the sabots getting measured or what. (bad)
• The bullets did not remotely stabilise - keyholes etc. (bad)
• The sabots for the 55grs were nowhere to be found, but they cleared the bullets (good)
• The sabots for the 69grs stabilised well, and were in fact reasonably accurate by themself (good?)
• The 69grs bullets & the sabots impacted in separate places - so the bullets left the sabots (good)
• The true trooper is the sabot I will try to include a picture of below - it penetrated 20mm (3/4") into the pine wood holding the target. Fresh, strong, straight from the lumberyard pine. (!)

What to try next

• Remember to print the sabots in bright yellow so you can find them.
• Recalculate load, use N320, quite a bit of it
• Drop the 69grs, the 55grs are more fun & fit the magazine. Might also stabilise one day.

Working up a new varmint load with some components I already had on hand. This is the max book load of 50 grains of Varget, and that's after I tapped it on the bench to consolidate. This amount should get me to about 3100-3200 fps with the 125 grain Sierra SPT I'm using out of my 24" bbl savage.

First time trying Varget with .308 and the starting load seems to be >100% case fill? Checked my scale 4 times (checked zero, verified calibration weights) but I can’t seem to fit 43gr of Varget in a Starline .308 case without compressing it so bad that it deforms the bullet! The bottle of powder even says 46gr?! 43gr. Seems to be all the way to the neck! Are any of you getting more than 43gr. of Varget in a .308 case? Am I going insane? Wtf

125gr Sierra SportsMaster crunched and crimped onto 22gr of Hodgdon H110 and primed with CCI Magnum primers. Shot through my 4-inch barrel GP100. I used 125gr XTP data which placed the starting load at 21gr and the max load at 22gr, so I made both. Here are the results! Consistent ignition, decent velocity, solid accuracy, and no serious signs of being over pressure. The average velocities are satisfactory aside from the extreme spread. This was my first time making compressed loads so the extreme spread is pretty large due to varying OAL. Next batch, I’m gonna do an initial crimp while seating instead of only using my Lee factory crimp die. This way the bullet will not get pushed out by the compressed powder. PLEASE NOTE: Even though the primers are a bit flat after firing, the black stuff seen on and around them is permanent marker to mark that they were the max loads. It is not escaped carbon.

This Chronograph is Way better than my Original LabRadar. So fast, easy to pack around with the included case. I've tested Slingshots, multiple Airguns, & multiple rifles & its picked up every shot. I do start a New session for each rifle to keep the data separated. Got a great deal here

About a year ago when [u/ravenrocksprecision](u/ravenrocksprecision) released their 94gr Norma frangibles I grabbed a thousand to try them out. Loved them. I ended up getting 20,000 in total. Sadly I am into the second half of that purchase as of last night.

Conservatively loaded over 4.1gr of HP-38 at 1.10” OAL I get 1181fps out of my pistols and 1320fps out of my PCC’s. I couldn’t be happier with this product. Utilizing my buckets of range brass this round cost’s me 11.9cpr, not too shabby.

The first day I received shipment I put a projectile in a pair of channel lock pliers to get an idea of durability. Not once have I had a problem with the copper/polymer material breaking while crimping. My only problem now is that they’ve been out of stock for a while

After runnng a RCBS ChargeMaster since 2020 I decided to upgrade my charge scale to the Autotrickler V4+ A&D scale combo . The groups on paper and the numbers on the chrono have improved drastically. Good barrel, components and scale is key. Any of those lacking and you are just burning money with bad results. For the data needs:

I've been on a journey with learning bottle neck cartridge reloading, currently loading for my 6.5 Creedmoor, I have maybe 400 rounds under my belt. I have reloaded thousands of pistol rounds in 9mm, .38, .357, and 10mm. I've been reading about ladder testing, not sure how I feel about some of it, but I like reloading and shooting, so whatever, its just more opportunity to have fun.

A lot of online resources like forums and here have folks pushing 140gn ELD-M bullets with 41.5 grains of H4350. My two manuals and the hogdon site show a max of 40 grains H4350. I've been chatting with Google Gemini (I know, I trust it not at all) and it says to do a ladder test between 40 and 41.5, asking about sources it says Hornady printed it on factor ammo boxes when the cartridge launched, and also cited a bunch of online forums, so I guess I'm asking here how many of you push into these higher territories vs how many stick to printed and trusted sources. I"m not asking for specific loads, just curious what the rest of you all do when it comes to these above book loads.

FWIW, my 40.0gn H4350 load from a 22 inch barrel gets me ~2620fps with a SD of ~20. I don't really need more velocity, just looking for a tad more accuracy and consistency.

I got around to powder coating fifty of these. I used the Eastwood lime green, not because I’m a fan of the colour, but because that’s what was available.

The powder coating took pretty well and it survived the hammer test. I ran them through the lee sizing die and loaded ten of them to try out later this weekend. I’m interested to see how they stack up for accuracy.

I’m using my standard 36.5gr of IMR 4198 to keep it consistent with the hardcast I hunted with last year.

6.5 creed, Ruger American Gen 1 predator. Alpha brass, Hornady ELDM 140gn. H4350, Staball6.5, Superformance. All loads just over 2600fps. SD with the Alpha brass is 15 to 20, but I got a low as 11 with the Staball6.5.

100 yard groups just aren't quite where I'd like at about 1.25 to 1.5 inch 5 shot groups, once in a while I can break 1 inch but not by much, most are 1.25 to 1.5 from a bench with a bipod and rear and bag.

At what point is it time for a better gun versus better loading equipment? Am i there? I feel like I'm asking a lot from a covid $600 rifle buy.

Has anyone done anything like this? I'm assuming I go off of case capacity and use data of similar cartridges as a reference on a safe starting load. I'm thinking 20grs of Lil'gun is good place to start, but more likely to end up around 40-45grs. I have found noting like this on the internet.
