The speakerphone paradox

I was at the pool today when a woman started having a conversation on her phone using the speaker.

I politely asked her if she could not use the speaker and pointed to my headphones.
She said, “I don’t have headphones.”
So I said, “You can just hold the phone next to your ear.”

She looked at me with a completely blank expression and said, “I’m on speakerphone.”
I said, “Well… that’s the problem.”

Apparently, we had reached the limits of modern technology.

Some people truly don’t get the message. I started doing that at the airport and the person said, “I’m trying to have a conversation here”. I said, “I know, I can hear everything you’re saying”. She got huffy and told me it’s rude to listen into other people’s conversations, she did at least move, but she was still on speakerphone.

"It's rude to listen to other people's conversations" 😆 The total lack of awareness is hilarious. What next? Someone plays loud music right next to you and then complains when you start dancing to it? "It's rude to listen to other people's music!" 😆
