Misc owing to recent events, presenting the kpop group compass

Post image

I dislike none of them because it's not worth my time to (Yes that includes NJZ). But here's my observation of all relevant groups off the top of my head not counting disbanded groups or groups that JUST debuted. If I missed any group/you disagree with placement please lmk!

Also if I could add a 3rd side that's "Liked/Hated on IG" I would.

I think it's fans that drive the hate ngl 😅 personally I was neutral on the band then I saw fans doing atrocious things to anyone who had any kind of criticism towards the group, and my opinion shifted towards slight dislike. (to make it clear, I don't hate on any groups, so this opinion stays in my head) (also the guy with the deep voice is amazing)

i don’t agree. you should have seen the tremendous hate they got after releasing side effects, dts and all. and that was when they had 10 fans and a dream. people have hated them for years solely because of the music they’ve released. i don’t think it’s logical to dislike groups because of fandoms either

I'm not saying it's logical, it's my personal emotion towards them. I'm a girl group girlie anyway, so I don't enjoy most boy groups.

It sucks that they received hate. Even so, I personally don't believe that compares to small time youtubers and twitter users getting chased off their platform bc they dared to say a song doesn't have good production. I also don't know if they were ever a group with a small fambase. They are from a Big 3 group, and they were formed after a survival show, right? They had a solid fanbase before they even debuted.

Again, I am not saying they deserve anything malicious, that is not okay. They have always impressed me with their performances and they do have something different about them compared to other groups. Their music might not be my cup of tea, but I still respect them. Their fanbase, however, is infamous for bullying anyone who dares voice any criticism of anything they do, not just haters. That is never okay.

I think at this point, Stray Kids are too big of a group that it seems like their fanbase is toxic, when the reality is that it's just because their fanbase is 10 times bigger than most groups. The more fans there are, the more toxic people are likely to be found in a fanbase.

And I'm not justifying the toxicity (I left kpop stan twt a LONG time ago and now just use it for updates), but back in 2022, when SKZ got their first BB200, they were getting hate from SO many fandoms (I specifically remember Atinys, Onces, Armys, Moas, and way others) calling them fraudulent TO THE POINT that Billboard themselves hosted a space WITH STRAY KIDS to prove that their numbers weren't fraudulent. Fastforward to now, and they've topped the chart every other time and plenty of other groups have also topped the chart without ever once receiving that kind of hate. And that's just one example of the hate they used to get on Twitter.

Now, the group is so big that their fans can "defend" them better, even if some fans for sure take it too far. I just think it's wild to say that they deserve the hate they've gotten because of their fanbase when it's been ongoing for years which is why their fans are so ... reactive (and not always in a good way) to hate now

Please point to the line where I said they deserved the hate.

I get that some fandoms get more sensitive about their idols after hate trains, but this does in no way excuse relentlessly bullying small creators. Two negatives don't make a positive here.

You said that the fans drive the hate when I was just showing you that they've been hated on more than most groups for a long time (like I don't think Billboard has every hosted a space with a k-pop group since that time - THAT'S how bad the hate was). I'm not justifying it, I just think that you don't understand how long they've been hated for which is just amplified now because of how big the group has gotten that now their fanbase is a lot bigger so you see more toxicity. I also think that's something all fanbases do when they receive criticism, their fanbases just aren't half as big so it doesn't seem as bad.

u/exyxnx InSomnia Mar 09 '25

Ah, you replied to the wrong comment, now I know what you mean. I still never, not once said they deserved the hate.

u/Medium-Principle-352 Mar 09 '25

to me it just sounds like you’re trying to justify why they get hate when there’s absolutely no reason or justification in so. fans being toxic doesn’t give reason to hating on the group themselves. and no they didn’t have many fans they were already hated right out the gate and named jypes failure. also just because they’re celebrities doesn’t mean their hate is minimized and less than the creators that get “run off”

u/exyxnx InSomnia Mar 09 '25

You're kind of proving my point about the fandom for me on a small scale, you know.

u/Medium-Principle-352 Mar 09 '25

how? who am i being “atrocious” to lmao

u/JustHazelChan the8 Mar 09 '25

Felix! I agree and someone I really dislike now got me into SKZ so there was always the lingering feeling. However I pushed it aside and now I'm deep into Stayville

Kpop stans' reasonings on why they hate skz: 1.They're a bg
2.They make noise music
3.Can't accept their success
4.Nothing, they find it fun to join the hate bandwagon
5.Some stays that the majority of stayville don't even like 🙄

u/renrenpeach_me Mar 09 '25

as a kim woojin fan, ditto

u/North-Way-4553 Mar 26 '25

The revisionist history yall do is crazy. Yall are the ones choosing to some into stray kids spaces and cause harm to our fandom. We aren't going into your spaces.

u/exyxnx InSomnia Mar 26 '25

This isn't a stay space. Hope that helps.

u/North-Way-4553 Mar 26 '25

So you admit this is a biased space that's not safe for kpop groups but only kpop groups that you and the administration like only.

Sir, this is a Wendy's.
