Basically title but I’ll elaborate. I’ve loved every bit of S1-3, got to the middle episode of S4 and just can’t get over how drab and boring it is compared to everything proceeding it, ik there’s good moments in later seasons but the S3 finale just felt so perfect and I’m really not enjoying these later episodes so far

Hey Gleeks! I have finished watching disc five of the first season (just got done watching it earlier), containing the first set of the season's "back nine" episodes focusing on the Regionals story arc. Here are my thoughts on each of them:

S1E14 "Hell-O": I personally thought of this as a great start to the back nine. I noticed I had instant engagement with the episode because of its more energetic tone IMO compared to even my personal favourite episodes of the front thirteen, with its faster pace and wittier tone. I liked Rachel singing "Gives You Hell" by AAR with the other ND kids sans poor Finn (and I felt bad for the guy, too, but the song was a bop). Plus, this episode is where we meet two very important characters: Jesse St. James and Shelby Corcoran, played respectively by the GOAT Jonathan Groff and Broadway beauty Adele Dazeem-wait, no, sorry, Idina Menzel. Speaking of Jesse St. James, I liked when he and Rachel sang "Hello" by Lionel Richie - man, the vocals on both Lea and Jonathan, like DAMN. And also Jonathan singing "Highway to Hell" (and never would I have thought I would ever associate Glee with AC/DC of all things) with the other Vocal Adrenaline kids. I also found Kurt's famous line, "No, she's dead, this is her son," quite hilarious (but in a dark way) too (it's just the way Chris Colfer delivered the line that got me). Honestly, this episode gets an 8/10 from me, making it a favourite for me.

S1E15 "The Power of Madonna": We kick off the show's famously recurring "artist tribute" episodes with a certain Madge Ciccone being the subject of honour. TBH, there are many great moments in this episode for me, most notably the tribute songs themselves: I liked Rachel, Jesse, Finn, Santana, Will and Emma singing "Like a Virgin" and the New Directions singing "Like a Prayer" at the end enough, but I especially liked Kurt and Mercedes singing "Four Minutes" (Amber and Chris' vocals are ON POINT), the ND girls singing "Express Yourself" (Lea, Jenna, Amber, Dianna, Heather and Naya's looks were quite attractive), and the most chaotic one of them all: frigging COACH SUE SYLVESTER singing "Vogue" which was just peak Glee chaos and also hilarious, especially her line "Will Schuester, I hate you". Honestly just peak Glee perfection. This episode easily earns a spot as one of THE favourites of season one for me. It deserves its 10/10 rating. Not a bad first impression for the first true tribute episode. Not bad at all.

S1E16 "Home": I honestly really liked this episode for its heart and messages, like Finn and Kurt potentially having to deal with the idea of possibly becoming stepbrothers as Burt and Carole get together and Mercedes feeling self-conscious about her weight and body image and the little heart-to-heart pep talk to Mercedes from Quinn regarding how Mercedes looks, with Quinn telling her that her being a Cheerio shouldn't disregard that. And honestly, Mercedes needed that support from Quinn IMO, plus the acting from Dianna and Amber in that one scene alone was impressive! Kudos to them (and there's a reason I consider Dianna to be one of my favourite actresses on the show so far, she's equally good at playing Quinn when she's being a meanie as much as she is good at playing Quinn when she's being a softie; Dianna Agron was perfectly cast as Quinn Fabray IMO, same with Amber as Mercedes and pretty much the rest of the cast and their characters). We also get another Amber Riley solo with Mercedes singing "Beautiful", originally by Christina Aguilera, as the rest of the NDs and Cheerios join in - that was so wholesome and hit me in the feels. Plus, I liked when it momentarily cut away to Sue and that one guy awkwardly exchanging looks towards one another, that was funny. I also liked when Kurt and Finn sing "A House Is Not A Home" too, and plus I liked the return of Cheno's chaotically neutral April Rhodes. This earns a spot as one of the favourites this season with a 9/10 score.

S1E17 "Bad Reputation": Now, this episode has many highlights for me; like Quinn revealing herself to have created the "Glist" and then Will standing up for her against Figgins, Mr. Schue doing yet another cringy rap with "Ice Ice Baby" (honestly lowkey a bop in its own weird and funny way), Sue singing "Physical" with none other than Olivia Newton-John herself, the embarrassing video of Sue singing and dancing to "Physical", Artie singing "U Can't Touch This" with Kurt, Mercedes, Tina and Brittany in the school library (Kevin McHale spat those bars like nobody's business), and Rachel and the other NDs singing "Total Eclipse of the Heart", but the absolute cherry (more like Berry lol) on top? Oh, you devoted Gleeks out there should know this: the cover of David Geddes' "Run Joey Run", complete with an accompanying cheesily-made music video, by a cover band I'd unironically like to call Puckleberry Finn St. James (lol, that name went even harder in my head). Now, that music video that Rachel and co. made can only be called one thing and one thing only. Mr. Scorsese, will you come out please? That music video is...

Honestly, this episode is worth watching for the "Run Joey Run" scene, which automatically puts this episode in 10/10 "Absolute Favourite" turf IMO. No two opinions on that. It just is perfect the way it is.

Anyways, those were my opinions on the first four episodes of the "back nine" of Season 1 of Glee. Feel free to agree or disagree, I'll respect your opinion either way. I'm also curious to know what your thoughts on these episodes are. Also, sorry if my wording is a bit weird, my brain right now is a bit tired and groggy, so some of my sentences may sound nonsensical; I may need some sleep. But, yeah, see you later, my fellow Gleeks!

In the UK (idk about other countries) there are extremely strict safeguarding rules where teachers and adults basically can't touch or talk to students alone or out of a professional environment and as I'm rewatching Glee I basically can't not think of how illegal half the things the kids do with Will/Emma/Sue and basically every other adult figure in the school is. Like they would ALL probably be on a list if it were a real school.

Of course it's all kind of part of the satire and I know it's a fictional show but they are so serious about safeguarding here that I can't stop thinking of it.

Things like Will doing the Britney Spears dance with the kids at the assembly, them going over to his house, Tell Me Something Good, the entire 'Sexy' episode with Holly Holiday, random adults like April and Carl showing up in the school would have had all of them fired and it would cause absolute chaos. Don't even get me started on the Rocky Horror episode (yes Creature of the Night I'm talking to you)

It makes it all kind of funnier (especially because the actors are all like 30) but does anyone else think this??

Watching the Madonna episode and Rachel talking to the girls “hypothetically” about dating someone and that she had dumped Jesse since the rest of ND forced her into ending it with him.

Yet Santana could tell she was lying, it was pretty obvious but none of the other girls said anything about the possibility of her lying and Santana only mentioned it to Finn.

Which you’d think that since the team told Rachel she had to dump Jesse, that if any of the girls figured out Rachel was lying they’d throw a fit and tell the rest of the club.

What do yall think? That the girls didn’t really care as much about Rachel dating Jesse and knew she was lying? Or that Santana was the only one who figured it out?

i’m kind of obsessed with all of the merch they made at the height of glee’s popularity, do any of y’all have any rare or interesting merch items? or anything that isn’t CDs/DVDs?

Mr. Schue was the actual villain of Glee. He forced teenagers to sing inappropriate songs, played favorites, suspended Marley for not wearing a bikini, and emotionally manipulated Emma for years. Also he rapped "Ice Ice Baby" unironically. The man was a walking HR violation and nobody talks about it enough.

So does anybody else watch glee reaction Channels. I love seeing it from a first time point of view. My favorite page to watch so far is Tim and sydni on TikTok.

For me it would be something like this:

1. The Schuyler Sisters would be sung by The Unholy Trinity

2. Burn would be for Rachel after seeing Finn talking with Quinn

3. Satisfied would be Santana's song for Britanny after knowing that she's dating Artie again

4. Wait For It for Finn when he was figuring out what's next after High School.

5. Say No To This fits perfect with some weird cheating arc from Mr. Schue and Emma

6. Alexander Hamilton by the whole cast, being this a practice number for Regionals or Nationals

I just can't get over him, he was SO weird and creepy with his students... Some characters aged like wine, but he aged like milk left under the sun. Mr. 👞 they will never make me like you lol

I just got off watching disc four of Season 1 earlier, having watched the last two episodes of Season 1's "front thirteen": "Mattress" and "Sectionals". Here are my thoughts on them.

S1E12 "Mattress": Honestly a really great episode for me. There were plenty of funny moments, like Rachel joining all of the clubs just for the photo ops and to boost her rep basically and when Rachel boasted about herself in pride to the poor photographer guy (in fact, Rachel had many funny moments in this episode), and I thought Finchel's duet of Lily Allen's "Smile" in the choir room was also cute, as well as the New Directions singing "Jump" for the commercial for the local mattress business which was quite a cuddly moment. Also, that scene where Will finds out Terri faked her pregnancy... man... that was intense. I thought by the calm yet menacing way Will behaved towards Terri, he was going to... well... I don't wanna go there (too taboo and psychological thriller-y). Gotta give kudos to Matthew Morrison and Jessalyn Gilsig for their realistic acting in the scene though, like that was INTENSE. I also liked the bit where Quinn bravely stood up to Sue and quit the Cheerios in favour of the glee club, and I was rooting for Quinn too, as well as, surprisingly, Will earlier. Like, bro, holy character development! This episode had enough good moments for me to give it a perfect 10/10, making it one of THE favourite episodes so far in this season for me.

S1E13 "Sectionals": The "front thirteen" of Glee's foundational season meets its end here with another great episode IMO, but mostly because of the songs themselves. Amber Riley, yet again, gets to show off her epic vocal skills with "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going". I swear Amber was blessed with golden vocal pipes because that performance was 💯 perfection! There was also Rachel's legit big hero moment at Sectionals with "Don't Rain On My Parade" which then segues perfectly into the ND kids performing "You Can't Always Get What You Want". And when it is revealed in the choir room at the end of the episode that the New Directions won Sectionals (which is, in itself, a great moment IMO), they perform "My Life Would Suck Without You" to Will, providing the "front thirteen" Season 1 episodes with a perfectly happy and wholesome ending, with callbacks to the previous songs the ND kids sang with the dances and all that. I immediately recognised the "Push It" conga line dance, Quinn, Santana and Brittany snapping their fingers from "Say A Little Prayer", and the ND kids dancing with the cowboy hats from "Last Name". Besides the songs themselves, the episode had some great moments like Finn crashing out in the choir room (mostly because of Cory Monteith's great acting) and a funny early implied Brittana moment thanks to Brittany, as well as Emma calling out Mr. Rumba and Grace Hitchens, and Sue roasting Will's hair which was a very funny moment. Like with "Mattress", this earns a spot as one of THE favourite episodes so far of Season 1 in my personal opinion. This is easily a 10/10 for me, since, again, I personally think that this is a perfect ending to Season 1's "front thirteen".

As a bonus; having the season on DVD also means that I could also watch the special features on Disc 4. The video diaries in particular (featuring Jane, Lea, Matthew, Cory, Kevin, Amber, Chris and Dianna) were particularly sweet, cute, wholesome and oddly nostalgic to watch. Watching Cory's video diary specifically made me think that if he was still alive and with us today, and decided to MAYBE retire or at least heavily step back from acting, he could have easily had his own YouTube channel, and, oh, what could have been, indeed. I can only imagine the types of videos Cory would have made too. Like vlogs or songs and all that.

Anyways, don't wanna digress; to all you Gleeks out there, what are your opinions on these episodes, and it's okay if you have a differing opinion, I'll respect it nonetheless. As for me, I have completed Season 1's "front thirteen", now I just gotta watch the "back nine" AKA the Season 1 Regionals arc.

That's definitely a hill I would die on. Since I started listening to Glee Versions I can't go back to the original songs. The GV are betterr, carry so much flavor and idk, the vibes are unique.

This one is an opinion I’m ready for people to vehemently disagree with me on, but it has to be said.
As someone who has watched glee over 20 times and LOVES the series. (Even through all the inconsistencies and all the weirdness that came with it.)
I have to say season six is hilarious. They really lean into the fandom. They mentioned how everyone wanted Rachel and Quinn to get together.
They have the whole Klaine debacle in the elevator.
The show is silly, but still has heart and I love it.

They returned to a lot of their sense of humor. The drama isn’t as heavy. It becomes what I think it was originally which is the Anti- high school musical.

I think the series started off very strong in the beginning with the vibe that it was deeply unserious. As the show rose to fame I feel like they lost the plot a little bit. I really appreciate season six because it is ridiculous all the way through. I feel like the jokes land better, the song choices are great. I love all the new voices that join new direction.
I love the rest of the show I really do, but I do think that season six is so glee it hurts.

Idc what anyone says, I enjoy the song and the fact that glee covered it as a silly fun thing to do 😂

I find kinda funny this whole 'Puck is MY MAN' storyline, but it sure gave us one of the best R&B covers from the whole season. Naya and Amber voices blend in so perfectly

I'm midway through season 6 and they never mention it again? Was really hoping it would've been returned to the person it was taken from/ would at least end up back in New York.
