As the title says - I’m thinking about buying an expensive e-bike through my work program but I’m sure my bike will get stolen if I just lock and park it outside my apartment. I unfortunately do not have enough space at home to take it inside and don’t know if there’s a secure bike parking spot nearby.

Hey everyone! I’ve recently moved to Ghent for uni and I’m trying to find somewhere to get a decent coffee in the morning.
I’ve noticed that pretty much every café/coffee place I find seems to open at 8am or later. Is there anywhere in Ghent that opens around 6:30–7:30am and does decent coffee?
I’m around the Hoogstraat area, but happy to travel a bit if there’s somewhere worth going to.
Also new to the city and don’t really know many people yet, so I’d be keen to meet some people while I’m here, if anyone else is new to the city or just wants to grab a coffee sometime

Wij wonen op een appartement en om de zoveel tijd beslissen onze bovenburen een feestje te houden 's nachts.

Het is nu half 12 's avonds, maar wel een vrijdagavond. Is het acceptabel dat er nog luide bassen hoorbaar zijn? Ik kan er alleszins niet van slapen.

Zou ik zelf gaan aanbellen en vragen of het wat stiller kan? Andere keren toen ik ging bellen, deden ze niet eens open. Vanaf wanneer is het "erg" genoeg om de politie te bellen? Of moet ik het gewoon uitzitten en wachten totdat het lawaai weg is zodat ik kan gaan slapen?

Ik ben op zoek naar een plek waar ik de zaterdag (mss ook de zondag maar toch meer de zaterdag) mij een uur of twee, drie kan zetten om wat te werken.

Liefst niet super druk of op elkaar geplakt, consumpties nemen zijn geen probleem, WiFi is een bonus maar geen must.

Hi everyone, I have a Shimano STEPS bike with DU-E6001 motor + BT-E6000 battery and my original SC-E6010 display has stopped working.
Since the SC-E6010 is discontinued, I understand an SC-E6100 with firmware 4.2.0+ can replace it.
Where can I find one cheaply in Europe? Also, if I buy a normal SC-E6100, can I update the firmware myself, or do I need a Shimano dealer?
Any advice or recommended websites would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, I just moved to Ghent from Canada as an international student and am hoping to get into pole dancing. I took a trial class back home and really enjoyed it, and would like to continue learning over here.

I looked up some pole studios in the area, it seems like there are a few. But I was wondering if people had any personal experience/recommendations.

At the moment I don't speak a lick of Dutch so an English-speaking class may be more beneficial. But I'm sure I'll pick up some of it as I stay here longer, and I want to be able to meet locals and not just hang around other international folks. So I'm totally open in terms of language.

Also, I am a man, and on top of that I am not white, so it's important to me to find a studio that is welcoming to all sorts of people. Thanks in advance!

Weet iemand wat het beste zwembad in Gent en omstreken is om rond 20-21u baantjes te trekken? Liefst met niet meer dan 3-4 in een 25m baan…

In de vakantie was Lago Rozebroeken prima, maar sinds de start van het schooljaar is het terug niet te doen daar. De zwembaden in het centrum zijn dan weer volledig kansloos en hebben bijzondere openingsuren.

Wil zelfs gerust 20-25 minuten rijden naar een andere gemeente. Tips?

I moved a while ago in Ghent for my PhD. I am 26 and started playing a year or so ago. I am looking for a tennis coach or experienced competitive player in Ghent for flexible, private lessons to improve my technique and learn how to serve.

• Level: I can sustain rallies, have played in adult group lessons, and currently hit twice a week with friends.
• Language: English

I know the apartment/house situation is not good as I've been looking for months. I've been showing up to 4/5 places a week. (I stopped searching almost 6 months ago, as I moved into a room)

I'm currently a Spanish guy living and working in Gent for two years. I'm learning Nederlands right now, and work as a blue collar in a factory where I make almost 2500 neto (not counting maaltijdcheques and so) Which, I don't know if it's because I'm Spanish but feels like a lot hahaha

I'm feeling a bit hopeless right now, because it's really stressing renting a room that costs almost as much as an studio or an apartment, with people changing every 2/3 months, without being able to fully accommodate or relax. (Most of people passing by don't really care about the place they are staying at all, despite the efforts of the landlord trying to make them care a little bit)

In fact, I'm writing this post now, because I woke up feeling not good at all because of this hahahaha I don't even know what I expect of this post.

The thing is, I'm still with an Interim contract, I've been complaining about this, because of course this limits my opportunities to find a place. They say I have to wait two years (but yeah).

I can't believe it's being this difficult to find a place, and I ask for tips that I use when sending messages or applying, considering that I still have no vastcontract.

I have savings, I could enter a lot of places right now without worrying; but most of the time is all so automatized that is impossible to talk about ones personal situation...

So, yeah, any tips on looking for a place? How should I approach the immos or the owners? How can I make them 'trust' my financial situation?

Ik ben op zoek naar een studentenvereniging waar ik echt mijn mensen in kan vinden. Ik ben op zoek naar een meer obscure studentenvereniging met wat alternatievere mensen. Ik merk vaak dat die verenigingen (zoals moeder Theepot en Prometheus) me iets minder liggen door de meer "online" leden.

Ik ben op zoek naar een vereniging met leden die zowel alternatief als niet te socially Awkward zijn. Ik ben ook geen fan van te traditionele verenigingen als WiNa bijvoorbeeld, ik ben geen fan van cantussen. Eventueel mogen ze bij mijn interesses aansluiten. Ik ben een zeer links persoon, die houdt van muziek, reizen en geografie, een stapje in de wereld zetten en Pokémon.

Andere suggesties dan studentenverenigingen zijn ook altijd welkom. Alvast bedankt!
