Thinking of doing the Diploma of Nursing at Menzies Institute of Technology? Do your research first, because here's what actually happens once you're in.

The course is 18 months and costs $38,000 AUD. That's just the start. If you miss an assignment or don't score enough to pass, you get charged another $300 to resit it. So on top of everything you've already paid, every stumble costs you more.

Then there's placement. You get sent out to regional NSW or VIC for 5 weeks, places like Toronto NSW or out in the Hunter Valley, and you don't get a choice in where. Sometimes they only send one student to a location. So you're on your own trying to find somewhere to stay and actually survive in a town you've never been to, and you're paying for all of it yourself. No help figuring any of that out, you're just expected to sort it.

The uniform for placement is barely holding together. Mine had tea spill on it and the fabric actually melted.

And in less than a year we've had 4 different lecturers. Every time someone new comes in you're basically starting over with different expectations and different marking, which makes it harder to actually learn anything properly.

For $38,000 you'd expect a lot more support, especially with placements, and a course that's actually stable enough to teach you something consistent. Think twice before signing up for this one.

If anyone else has gone through Menzies or dealt with any of this, I'd genuinely like to hear how you handled it, or if you've got any advice for the rest of us still stuck in it.

My GP is lovely but intimidated by workcover as English isn’t her first language. Looking for a confident competent GP for workcover COC. FYI have a rare occupational disease so knowledge would be beneficial but not essential.

I was talking to a mate last night who, like me has lived in Geelong their whole life and is a few years older than me. We were talking about the Eastern Gardens and for some reason it jogged a memory for me but no one else seemed to recall it. Now I'm at my wits end trying to find information about it but can't find anything. Now I'm wondering if it even happened.

Does anyone else recall a wedding happening there in the early 2000's during a storm, and lightning hitting one of the rotundas while people took cover? I could have sworn there were fatalities. Can anyone else remember this?

whos idea was it to put an box at the end of the path. am i the only one that can see a senior riding the footpath on their mobility scooter to get home faster only to badly/fatally injure themselves because their son never got round to fixing the brakes. what ever happened to careful planning? these are relatively steep paths that deceptively build up speed quickly.

I consider myself a sociable person who can hold a good conversation. Unfortunately, I've found that conversations often fizzle out quickly, even with my efforts to keep them going. It's not for lack of trying or because I'm boring. I'm active with social sports, gym fitness, movies, gaming, and regularly go out with friends. I have a good job and a healthy work-life balance.

Despite all this, at the end of the day, there's a longing for a deeper connection – someone to love, chat with, cuddle with, or simply share life with.
