FFT WotL FFT: Wotl Characters!
galleryWanted to share this here since I love FFT and made custom characters based on the game into TABS Mobile 🤣

I've created a FFT Companion App (PSX, WOTL, and TIC versions). It is available for:
If you want to report a bug, provide feedback, or just hang out, I have a Discord channel here.
Final Fantasy Tactics is a complicated game, with a lot of depth. As a game that is almost 30 years old, there is a lot of information about it on the internet. However, by modern standards, that information is not in a format that is easily consumed.
I have a few main goals for this project:
The game has many versions, mainly the PSX, WOTL, and TIC versions. Each version has some differences, like stats and names. In the top-right menu, you can change the version that you are viewing, and it will change the data to that version!
Almost anything with a list can be filtered, sorted, and searched for!
Currently it supports English, Japanese and Portuguese (Brazil). I am open to supporting other languages as well (I would need help though!).
The application is split into a few main parts:
https://reddit.com/link/1lsukt6/video/86d278bwr7pf1/player
Every equipment found in the game will be listed here. You can see their stats, effects, how to get the equipment, and which jobs can equip it!
Every generic job and special job the player can access is listed here. You can find their stat multipliers, stat growths, equippables, and requirements. You'll also be able to compare stats with other jobs.
All abilities available to jobs, bosses, and monsters will be listed here. You can find each ability's stats, effects, damage and success calculations, modifiers, range, and more!
All monsters that you can find in the game will be listed here. Similar to jobs, you can see their stats, abilities, strengths, weaknesses, poach items, spawn locations, and more.
All bosses in the game will be listed here. Stats, abilities, and equipment will be listed here.
Every errand is listed here, with the days it takes, the rewards it pays, and the requirements behind each outcome. Work points decide whether an errand succeeds, and they come from the unit's job, level, brave, and faith, so you can see exactly which units to send. You can also mark off the ones you've already completed.
Every status in the game is listed here. You can see what each one does, how long it lasts, and the full list of abilities, items, and equipment that inflict, cure, or block it.
Every battle map is here as a 3D model that you can rotate and inspect. Treasure, trap, and exit locations are marked, and you can tap any tile to see its height, depth, and terrain type. Starting positions are shown too, so you can read the ground before you commit to a fight. Story battles, side quest battles, and revisitable locations are all covered.
10. Online Character Planner / Unit Builder
Simulate your character, plan their build, see how their stats change, and check their damage! You can control almost everything:
You can even share your character for others to see. Just give them the link!
As you all know, the app currently allows you to create your own units. You can get some great info for each unit, such as damage for each of their abilities, stat growth, and evasion. But in FFT, you don't play with just one unit (normally, at least). You use your units in a team!
You are able to make your own custom teams with the units that you create. It started with zodiac compatibility and ability distribution, and there is more in there now: element distribution, a turn order simulation that uses each unit's Speed to estimate how often they act relative to their teammates, and a boss matchup view where you pick a story boss and see which of your team's elements and status ailments will actually work against it. If anyone has any ideas about other analytics to show, let me know.
Give it a try today with the units that you've created, and learn more about your team!
This one is for people who are in the middle of a run. It follows your playthrough battle by battle so you never miss anything. It tracks every missable recruit, stealable item, rare treasure, and learnable ability, laid out in story order chapter by chapter, with side quests and their requirements included.
Since it goes through the story, spoilers are a real concern, so there is a spoiler level setting. On Light, things stay hidden until you get there. On Full, everything is shown. Items are revealed as you progress, and each entry links back to the map or unit it belongs to. Your progress is saved to your account, so you can check something off on your phone and see it on your desktop.
Got a unique unit build that you want to show everyone? Looking for a new unit build to play for your next playthrough? Use this, a community build library where anyone can publish their own builds and browse everyone else's.
Every build shows the complete loadout: job, secondary, reaction/support/movement, and all five equipment slots, alongside a written guide from the author broken into Setup (why this job, and how the abilities and gear work together), In Battle (positioning, target priority, where it falls apart), and Variations (what to swap, budget versions).
Browsing and reading is open to everyone. An account is only needed to like, save, or publish.
With the amount of traffic I've been getting, I've had to introduce some monetization to the app to keep it running and available to everyone.
There is now going to be a banner ad along the bottom. I don't want to add more than that, as I don't want it to affect the user experience that much. Of course, it can also be removed via an in-app purchase. You can find it in the account settings.
Something that some people have been asking for is more units. This will also be available as an in-app purchase as well! Currently will increase by an additional 50 units and 20 teams. I think that will be more than enough for most people's use, but I may increase it depending on the usage. That same purchase also raises the playthrough limit from 1 to 30, in case you are tracking more than one run.
Original Post:
About a month ago, I mentioned that I was creating a companion app to complement FFT. Well, I've decided to make the first version available today! Good for both mobile and desktop use. I also plan to release Android and iOS versions later.
For now, it is just an equipment database. There are many different filters (stats, effects, weapon/armor categories, and more!), name search, and sorting. The one I personally have been using the most is the "Story Battle" filter, which shows you what equipment are available (by any method, not just from the outfitter) at a specific point in the game!
Finally, you can change the version to either PSX or WotL. This will change the name of different things to how they are in each version, as well as the availability of different equipment. Of course, I also plan to support the different modes in Ivalice Chronicles as well when that comes out.
I hope this can help enhance your FFT experience! Please play around with it and let me know what you all think. I do plan to continue adding more features to this, such as jobs, skills, treasure maps, etc.

Hi everyone,
I just fixed the user flairs on the subreddit. I didn't realize that a Reddit update broke them some time ago. Depending on when you assigned yourself a flair, you may or may not need to reassign it to yourself.
On new Reddit:

On old Reddit:

Also we recently hit 15,000 members! Huge milestone, and we're still growing fast.

Hi I'm interested in knowing how much different Final Fantasy Tactics is vs the Advance version for Gameboy.
I used to play the Advance version for hours as a kid. I beat it four times and I figured it out faster than my other two siblings. I was 10 or 12 years old and younger by two years when I started playing.
The ten JP for Totems, Phoenix Down as Down is "dead", and the 100 EXP for the next level.
I have an emulator I played on my phones for a little bit. I've restarted twice and I'm getting a new phone to go to town on.
Is there an active group for that particular version still open and running on this app? Please add me as a friend if you're interested in sharing thoughts and enjoyments.

Hi guys, I just got the game a little while ago and got my guys to about level 20 before I learned what I was doing and started a new game, now I’m feeling good in Chapter 3 and the team is around 30
Since I’m playing totally blind (besides the beginning I had to redo) I wanted to ask if my team set up is viable through the rest of the game, they’re all generics:
Dragoon (Ramza), Chemist (haste bot when no one needs an item), Black mage (can use items for insurance if chemist dies), Monk (focus when nothing in attack range), Ninja (focus when nothing in attack range)
thanks in advance for any advice, I’m worried of hitting a difficulty spike and finding out my team sucks cause the enemies outscale it or something

For example, if I’m in the middle/end of Chapter 2 and want to change everyone’s jobs now that I have a better understanding of how things work, is that still viable? Or is it better to start over? Or recruit new characters?
r/finalfantasytactics • u/Technical-Dot4242 • 1d ago
Since this is a remaster of an older game, I imagine there are probably a ton of things (items, busted classes, weapons, etc.) that I could easily miss if I don't follow a guide or something
And since it's an older game, I also assume there might be some basic mechanics that aren't explained in the tutorials
Would you recommend reading anything beforehand?

I just want to ask if or how often does anyone here try to recreate another FF character or one from a different franchise in their playthrough?
r/finalfantasytactics • u/Gargomon251 • 1d ago
I know this was probably asked a long time ago but I couldn't find an answer.
What's the difference between switch and switch 2 version?
I own the physical copy for switch 1, how do I upgrade to switch 2? Does it do it automatically like the Mario Odyssey patch? I couldn't find it on the eShop. Just the separate games.

So trying to get the 'mastered all jobs' trophy with Ramza, and I blew my shot at getting ultima from them at the end of chapter 3, so according to the guides I checked, the battle-streak at Limberry castle is my last chance. I have Ramza on his gallant knight job, but those two simply WILL NOT cast it. I'm told it's easier to get it at the castle gate rather than the following one where they become ultima demons, but they just WON'T. Also my main battle crew is all level 99 so their monster minions at the gate are also in the 90s level-wise, making it tough. Anyone have any tips on what to do, equip, what actions to take, anything, to get Celia and Lettie to cast it on Ramza? It's the second to last thing I need for the trophy, the other being to get zodiark as a summoner but that's later, not worried about that.
Help would be very much appreciated, losing my mind. Thanks. :)

I was doing the sand rat’s sietch in ng+ and ran into a weird bug. I went to hit a knight that was in the doorway and he didn’t die. This confused cause i was behind him and the damage showed 999.
I was able to kill him on the second attack but I attempted to reload to see if I could replicate it and the auto save took me back to a turn before the one I was expecting.
It’s like the game forgot I even took a turn but the position on the map stayed.

I apologize if this question is asked a lot but how easy is it to play without caring about zodiacs? I mean they obviously put a lot of thought into the mechanics so I’d assume it’s important to pay attention to but there’s no way kids that played this in the 90s actually coordinated their squad like that (unless I’m severely underestimating the PS1 generation).

The Tactics League Launcher app is a tool that automates the entire ISO patching process of our PvP Patch mod, PPSSPP installation and networking configuration, and the Tactics League save data installation - all you need to bring is your unmodified USA-region FFT WotL (PSP) ISO, and it will handle the rest!
This tool was made to streamline the various means to be able to play Tactics PvP and even includes a built-in matchmaking lobby to connect and play Melee or Rendezvous with others online, thanks to the built-in PPSSPP Ad Hoc Relay servers.
You can download the app here: https://tacticsleague.com/download/
As a precaution, with this being an uncommonly downloaded/non-certified Windows executable, your web browser or anti-virus may prevent or flag the app from downloading initially. It is virus-free, and if possible, please report that it is safe to make it easier for others to download in the future.
Credits to Cloud909 for app development and socom.cc for hosting our lobby server!
To read more about the app or its features, visit: https://tacticsleague.com/introducing-the-tactics-league-launcher/
I am hoping this helps get more people involved with Tactics PvP!
If you are brand new, I highly encourage you all to check out the Academy after installation to help fast-track you for Tactics multiplayer.

With Argath in tow, we head to Eagrose Castle to rescue the Marquis who's been taken hostage by the Corpse Brigade (in case you'd forgotten where we left off).
By the way, we have a motley crew of brave squires!... and chemists... and... a knight? We have a crew. My assumption is that, because we're currently a knight apprentice and, based on the opening, won't be for too long, these guys are kinda just fodder to help us get through battles in the first few hours of the game and I shouldn't commit their names to memory or anything.
To that end, I'm just gonna go ahead and assume they're all gonna get wiped the fuck out soon lmao, we need to meet Gaffgarion and Agrius later since they had some actual unique moves and I'm taking that as a signal that they'll be party members later on.
Dycedarg tells us that-- oh that's the most Ben Starr voice I've ever heard lmao. He's so fkin good.
Anyways, it seems like Dycedarg and Ramza have a nice bond. The former seems proud of the latter's accomplishments, even if their relationship is rather formal. I'm interested in the relationship between Dycedarg and Zalbaag in particular, though, since didn't the Encyclopedia say that their father instructed Dycedarg to cecede control of the Order ot his younger brother. Why? Isn't he supposed to be some sort of master tactician? Is there any animosity between them because of it?
Despite his... politeness(?) Dycedarg shuts Argath down, telling him that he's just a common sword and shouldn't presume to ask favours of him. Which is true, but damn lmao. I like this exchange. I appreciate a character who's pleasant but not a pushover. HOWEVER, I don't believe he's all good. I see potential for some villainy from Dycedarg (and not just because he's voiced by a rather prolific actor).
Enter Zalbaag, Alma and Tietra. First, Zalbaag seems notably less formal than his brother (both of them), but still seems noble and kind. He seems less adherent to the rules than his elder brother, even telling us to go find a spy he'd sent to monitor the Corpse Brigade (without actually telling us to do so).
Tietra has the largest case of future-dead-sister-syndrome I've ever seen.
Alma doesn't say much, but her exchange with Ramza does bring into question where their mother is in all of this. She's dead, right? She's probably dead.
The final interesting tidbit from this exchange is that the Corpse Brigade has only previously exchanged their hostages for members of their crew held by the crown, and hasn't demanded actual money as ransom before. Contrary to my belief on them, might they be more than anarchists and rogues? Are they some sort of organised cause?
In the next fight, we're attacked by some monsters in the forest and Ramza gets knocked down. And then an interesting message appears.
"When a unit has been KO'd, a series of heart marks will appear above it. If all of the hearts disappear, the unit will turn into a crystal or a chest. After this change occurs, the unit can NO LONGER BE REVIVED AND IT WILL BE LOST FOREVER"
WHAT??? Is that poorly worded or is it implying that units just actually fucking die forever if you let them??? Of course, I assume that's not true for Ramza or most main characters, since otherwise the plot would become fucking pandemonium lmao.
Before continuing, I take a look at the battle stratagems tab in the menu, and learn some interesting stuff. The faith and bravery mechanics are really interesting, and the game really does seem to be committing to the idea of party members permanently leaving the battle. Presumably, then, I shouldn't be thinking of them as true party members. I've always thought it's funny how, in other RPGs, fighters afflicted by ailments like forgetfulness or despair just kinda shake it off at the end of battle. In Persona, party members can become afraid and run away entirely. Does that mean after the battle they walk back over all ashamed lmao. I like that the game answers this by essentially keeping them gone permanently.
That does beg the question of how these faith and bravery mechanics work for more important units. For Ramza, it's an insta-KO.
bruhhhhhh there are two wasps in my room what the fuckkkk ahhh send helppp
We run into someone called Wiegraf, who's supposedly the commander of the Corpse Brigade, and are thrown into battle against various guys.
I lose like half of my squad and retry. Not ashamed to admit that.
Then I lose most of my squad and retry retrying. Slightly ashamed this time.
OK I just keep LOSING, what the fuck am I doing here? The biggest bottleneck is Ramza's low health constantly getting him killed, and my lack of revival options.
After, like, 7 attempts I finally manage to take out the enemy (at the cost of one of my units being sent to the shadow realm). I had to exit and travel back to the outfitter to get some more potions and armour, and also change around some jobs. In particular, having my chemist learn Phoenix Down was useful.
That was a fucking sadistic difficulty spike.
We take that one soldier hostage and beat some information out of him - apparently the kidnapping of the Marquis had nothing to do with Wiegraf, but rather Gustav, the lieutenant commander of the Dead Men. As I suspected, the Corpse Brigade fight to end the aristocracy, not become it, while Gustav, it would seem, just wants money.
I suppose Gustav is leading a sort of schism, trying to consolidate his own wealth under Wiegraf's name, although I don't suppose Wiegraf himself is much of a saint.
I feel like I'm playing Five Nights at Freddy's with these wasps rn, stopping every few moments to listen out for the sounds of them clattering against my bedroom walls. Spooky shit.
We enter the Sand Rat's Seitch, and it seems like the game's settling into a kind of rhythm? For one, it doesn't seem like this game has... any... exploration. As in, there's no free-roam or even small zones to explore. Additionally, we seem to be entering battles immediately upon visiting a new location, and getting a cutscene immediately before and/or after.
When we reach the desert, the ensuing battle takes a heavy toll.. Most of our party is wiped out, with a couple being gone permanently by the end.
We return and Dycedarg grills us on why we left, and I like this line in particular:
"What purpose do laws serve when even those who would enforce them choose not to pay them heed?"
Which is a great fucking question. Topical, too.
Duke Larg walks into the room, and I can immediately tell he's no good. Apparently the King's life hangs by a thread, too. So that's something to keep an eye on...? Anyways, we've been told that a final attack is being mounted against the Brigade so sure fuck it why not.
Milleuda is an interesting character. She's almost a mouthpiece for the Corpse Brigade's ethos, speaking about how the nobles look down upon the common-born and how all are equal in the eyes of God. Argath, being a noble himself, completely disagrees with this, and says some pretty vile shit, to which Delita raises an eyebrow. Ramza says nothing. I sort of had a feeling earlier, but this kinda cements my suspicion that Delita's motivation for switching sides will be classism. The game's made a point of bringing it up a couple of times now.
By the way as soon Delita questions whether Milleuda is truly our enemy or not she turns around and clocks him in the face, killing him instantly, which I thought was kinda funny.
Once again, I'm getting fucked up here so we're gonna need to switch tactics. We can almost unlock a new job - "monk" - so I need to grind out the Knight job for a bit before that's unlocked. After I get it I update my gear, learn a few new abilities and give it another shot.
OK I lost again lmao. But it was closer this time!
One more long, gruelling battle and we manage to stumble through (although we lose our best fighter in the process), deciding to spare her at the end of it all.
Argath is as pissed as one would expect, the snooty little dickhead, but interestingly, Milleuda seems just as upset. Whether she genuinely hates us or just feels embarrassed remains to be seen, though with how dedicated she seems towards the cause I'd wager on the former.
Back at the castle, though, some people (led by someone named Gragaroth) are trying to steal Alma and Tietra. Zalbaag manages to save Alma, but they get away with the other.
OK I'm gonna stake my claim right now - Zalbaag is suspicious as fuck and is primo suspect for being a traitor/mole, working for the other side. I think he let Tietra get kidnapped but not Alma, his own sister. Dycedarg is prettily heavily injured from all this, and claims that Tietra is a sister to him, and he'd never turn his back on her. I'm starting to understand Delita's radicalisation more and more...
Argath thinks Dycedarg's lying, and I'm inclined to agree. As I mentioned, I don't trust him as far as his nose is down his face. Then again, Argath is MAD racist and I lowkey wish we left him to die back there. Idk if he's more of a Wakka or a Malfoy, but I'm impressed that we don't just find a soldier on the road and immediately see him as a friend.
I haven't heard the wasps in a while... the window's been open behind me this whole time. Did they leave, or are they waiting to strike in silence? Should I close the window and risk trapping them in here with me, or leave it open and risk more coming in?
We're drawn into another battle with Milleuda, and this game is frankly WAYY more difficult than I'd ever thought it'd be. I'm only playing on normal mode, yet I'm constantly having trouble in every battle and I'm only a couple hours in. The enemies hit for far more damage than we do, and there are lots of small restrictions and rules that make everything harder.
To be perfectly clear, though, none of this is a criticism. I really enjoy strategizing and putting thought into which jobs and skills would be effective against the enemy, and I also like how liberal the game is with job points, allowing me to customise my characters quite a lot. There are lots of small restrictions that I (and probably others) aren't used to in turn-based RPGs like FFX and FFIX. I've heard that this kind of game is actually a genre in-and-of itself, so I'm sure more experienced players will think I sound stupid right now, but the conditions for recovery being so stringent raises the stakes of battle remarkably.
For example, if you have a unit that's been knocked out, then if you don't want to lose them forever you need to:
I like the difficulty, and I think this second battle against Milleuda is a really great chance for the player to exercise their tactical prowess. Targeting the mages first is the obvious route, since they're glass cannons, but they're positioned towards the back. A smarter player might try switching to Archers or some job with range capabilities. I am NOT a smarter player so I just pushed through with Squires and Chemists.
I do have other jobs available - I think I've got Monks, White Mages, Knights and a few more - but since I've been using the basic jobs for the longest, they've ended up becoming the strongest. I'll definitely switch it up soon, though.
Back to the story here, Milleuda chooses to die(?) by her principles. Ironically, she's just as much of a bigot as Argath was, though she's painted in a significantly more sympathetic light than him. There's presumably some huge tragedy in her past, or some loss she was forced to bear as a result of her low status. While I respect the commitment to her cause, she's clearly blinded by rage and is incapable of thinking rationally anymore. Maybe.
Gragoroth and Wiegraf are holed up in what looks like a clock tower, as the latter scolds the former for taking hostages. Wiegraf, while obviously being a villain, seems rather honourable. Maybe he'll join us eventually? Nah, he seems too diametrically opposed to our cause, at least for now.
I'm very interested in how this situation is gonna play out. The Corpse Brigade seem to be under the impression that Tietra is of very high value to House Beoulve, but clearly that isn't the case.
PREDICTION: House Beoulve and/or the Order of the Northern Sky will end up being an antagonistic force at some point. Dycedarg and Zalbaag seem way too villainous (and have voices far too sinister) to not be driving against us at some point, and the morals of higher society and nobility are constantly being questioned in the story. On top of that, it would be really interesting drama for Ramza, and Delita is already having doubts.
I take back that thing about Wiegraf joining us actually, he hates nobles WAYYY too much lmao. He would happily sacrifice every single person around him to even mildly inconvenience a noble.
What's kinda tragic here is that, for all of Ramza's talk of his brothers being merciful and willing to agree to a treaty with Wiegraf, he's completely wrong, I think. I don't imagine his brothers have much more respect for low-born criminals like the Corpse Brigade than Argath, and this does really seem like the only way for them to rebel against their conditions and the poor hand they've been dealt in life.
Also "no spoony bard could spin a sweeter tale" is a hell of a line lmao
We enter battle and my GOD the music is so goooooooood. As is the writing, actually. I love how much the story respects itself and its setting. I have to resist the temptation to write down nearly every single line I hear because they're all so good.
The battle against Wiegraf is gruelling. We end up in a situation where our entirety party is up, and it's just Wiegraf himself alive from the enemy side. He uses Judgment Blade, wiping out our entire back ranks, consisting of everyone who isn't Ramza, as the young Beoulve mounts an attack on his lonesome. Which is precisely when Wiegraf drops a bomb on us:
Dycedarg was the one who fed Gustav the information on the Marquis' location, and likely under Zalbaag's orders.
I. FUCKING. KNEW IT. Those slimy-ass brothers are NOT to be trusted.
And having dropped that bomb, Wiegraf ducks out of the battle. Predictably, Gragaroth (I called him Gargaroth earlier and I'm not fixing it) has taken Tietra and fled, completely ignoring Wiegraf and casting Ramza's suspicion on him. Great.
I'm already quite impressed by how layered the narrative is. To be honest, I'd kinda expected the Corpse Brigade to be your standard early-game bad guy troupe, but to have so many different members with different allegiances and motivations is really quite fun. Bravo game.
Also, holy shittt the music is absolutely incredible in this game, idk what they fed the composer but the standard battle theme has so much momentum and grandeur it's incredible.
By the way Archer is annoying as FUCK to use because what do you mean you can't shoot someone right in front of you???? It's this frustrating game of trial and error with moving and figuring out angles.
The wasps have agreed to coexistence. The peace is uneasy, but is peace nonetheless.
TL;DR: Game is still peak, story is really interesting and sophisticated, doesn't seem interested in taking the easy route. Gameplay is getting a lot more interesting and varied. Music is incredible, dialogue is amazing as is the voice acting. I can confidently say that, out of X, IX and X-2 this is the most immediately impressed I've been by a Final Fantasy game. If it keeps this up it'll be rivalling X for the top spot for sure!

Playing Ivalice Chronicles, and I made the mistake of not switching Ramza's jobs throughout, I stuck with monk, but I'm about midway through chapter 4 and it's brutal. I've only mastered half and it's been like a week. Is there a particular battlefield and/or strategy to get job points for him faster? I have the ability that gives me about 95 jp per action but still, it's taking a long time. Any tips or siggestions which battlefield to use? Thanks. (also I know about the missable trophy for this, where you have to not get a summon last, and something about Ultima, I'm not worried about that, just tring to see if there's a better battlefield to grind them or starategies.)
