EDIT: I’m on that 10 hour EA Play demo I didn’t pay full price for this horseshit.

At some point, the devs need to look at what other studios are doing in the sports game genre and seriously ask why they can't keep up. NHL 27's player face models are an embarrassment. The artists clearly aren't up to the standard set by other sports titles.

Look the size of EA Vancouver, its a size of college campus, larger then EA Orlando which make Madden and CFB. The producer told us that they have a small team which is the reason why they cannot fix a lot of exploits and the UI. What building are they working at, the basement, a small office? Its quite obivous EA Vancouver favor FC more but I am tired of this studio treating NHL like a side project for FC.

It's like hockey is nearing It's end and every player is aware. Like if the ghosts haunting Quinn Hughes are now haunting everyone.

Maybe they're bringing a prophecy with them. A propecy showing the end of hockey video games. Every NHL game they release is worse than the one before. Maybe the ghosts are warning players of the time where the licence wont be renewed and they'll be fading memories lost in time, never to be used again.

This game is about grief and letting it go and it doesnt even try to.

I feel like this could be the highlight of a game if the announcers are good the game is more playable and these announcers are just so bad. I can’t even watch any videos on the game , and typical same lame scoreboard, these announcers don’t sound good and they don’t have any sayings sounds like AI slop , eddie O was way better

For the amount of time they show the crowd in cut scenes (goals, penalty’s, etc), the least they could have done was make the crowd look at least 1/2 decent….

The player models are already mediocre, but when they flash to the crowd and it looks like something straight out of a ps2 game, any immersion they were able to give me up to that point is entirely stripped away.

Between gameplay and animations this has to be one of the most disappointing sports games I’ve played.

Thank god for a free trial… I’d be pissed if I spent 60 bucks on this crap.

Always annoyed me that these would get generated every year, getting hyped for a prospect and then going into edit them after the draft and they look ridiculous

I am going to say my piece.

The use of AI for the commentary is just absolutely awful for one reason only. It still uses the same damn script from previous games. What was the point in new voices if you just are gonna use the same script basically?

The use of AI with the voices would make more sense if the commentary actually changed throughout the game based off what was occurring.

Just such a half assed feature

I’ve haven’t seen a gold mine of clips from a game in the NHL series since 15. With how the game is seemingly using AI for certain parts of the game (commentary confirmed by Bucci) it could be a fun year with how bad the game looks.

So far NHL 27 is reminding me of NHL 24, where the gameplay was just so clunky that it was too hard to ignore. I like the more “hockey” feel of the gameplay, but I can’t believe we went from (what is in my opinion) one of the more smooth NHL games in NHL 26 to a video game where players move at such a slow FPS that I am not sure I want to play the game at all.

Is this something that can be patched? Because if not, I’m not sure I can play this.

Its unbearable now a days, i still have to play nhl 23 which is god awful in itself but its not the unplayable garbage that the new ones are.

I was able to play nhl 26 thru some playstation plus promotion last year and i had it downloaded on my system for all of 48 minutes before i deleted it.

I just want be a pro to be worth playing, not being interviewed by a computer asking me the same questions after every game, and that in turn effecting my “relationship” with my teammates and whether they’ll pass me the puck or not. That whole era where they were saying that people wanted stuff like that in the game was fabricated to make the offline modes worse to push people to HUT, which is garbage all within itself. Just teaching children how to become addicted to gambling.

I miss the endless customization of the offline modes, i stopped buying the new games when they took the ability to customize your strategy and you just have to hope you can find a coach that fits what your strats are in nhl 23, at least give me the option to have that in the game or not as a setting, dont just take it away.

And remember back in like nhl 15 when you were able to pick a current player and play them in a be a pro? I remember using mcdavid as an erie otter and playing his draft year in the chl. Why did they take that away? What purpose did it serve to take that game mode away? Its terrible…

And then with these newer ones (idk about 27) with the momentum system, not only the awful and distracting visual on the ice but the system itself is not needed at all, you dont need an extra meta advantage that drains your opponent stamina more cause youre controlling in their zone. Youre supposed to earn draining you opponents stamina by moving the puck around and making them chase you, and it makes less sense to have this type of system in place on the powerplay, like you already have a man advantage, you dont need the momentum system when youre on the powerplay.

Ive been playing the nhl games since NHL 01, i remember when these games were absolute peak (nhl 09,12,15)

And i havent had that feeling of “OH, THE NEW NHL IS COMING OUT, I CANT WAIT” and i miss it so bad, i just want my hockey games back 😫

Just curious about how others play their franchise mode. Long read ik anyways I've been playing the same Blackhawks franchise for a long time, i'm currently in what will probably be my final season because I'm reaching the Franchise Mode season limit. I'm manually playing the playoffs instead of simming because I actually want to experience the final run with this group. Has anyone else gotten genuinely attached to their Franchise Mode players? And when one of your longtime players is playing their final season, does it actually hit you? Or am I just way too invested in pixels? At the end of the day its just for fun right?

Downloading the free trial of the newest NHL I was surprised to see it almost had a 5 star review base of 55 reviews. But going to look at them they are all blank for user names save for a few here and there. I know they’ve used AI already but there’s no way they’re scooping as low as to bot reviews are they?

I have standard edition, so I still don't have access to the game, SO I was wondering is big tipper great in nhl 27?

You know, those surgical tips are my favorite things in hockey, and I was kinda sad that the fixed them in nhl 26. Well, they didn't actually fix them, they fixed "big tipper" itself, so it became almost usless.

So I'm wondering is this x-factor great this year or not?
