Graham Hancock is a former journalist who writes in support of his ideas about Atlantis. Dan Richards, of the DeDunking YouTube channel, recognizes that Hancock’s work has errors, but attempts to mitigate this by arguing that in some cases Hancock was misled by views which were perfectly acceptable at the time he was writing his books, and were even mainstream views in academia.
In this video I show how Dan is wrong. By the time Hancock was writing, the views he promoted had long been discarded by the scholarly community as Eurocentric and painting colonizers as white saviours.
This is a revised version of a previous video (6 August 2025), removing an image one of my viewers identified as AI-generated, and including about 20 minutes of new content, adding the entire "Hancock misrepresents sources" section, and expanding the "Hancock could have used better sources" and "Conclusion" sections.
