Comics and art books by friends o mine

Fantastic books by fantastic friends! The first book is here as a technicality, as K-9 is all of our friend! Then we have Tony McMillen , the most creative person I know, from music to comics to podcast, he's always doing something different! Then there's Delgado Kevin , Buffalo's last hope with tuff stuff! If you need a variant cover, he's your man! He's done comers for everything from TMNT to Dick friggin Tracy! Then we have Puma Blues by Michael Zulli...I didn't know him personally, but I am online friends with his wife Iris Zulli ...in fact, this was her personal copy! Then we have Eric Orchard , a comic artist -fantasy artist, someone is definitely put in the back matter of Papa Balloon and Cactus down the road! Same goes for David Dave Chisholm , he always does something different from his last gig (see "is Ted ok?" In comic shops NOW)

Speaking of Papa Balloon and Cactus, in the new issue (still in production) is Joel Meadows who along with Andy Bennett, have been telling alternate world versions of Sherlock Holmes! He's also one heck of a comics journalist! If you can't find "masters of comics," track down super groovy magazine Tripwire, or one of the several projects they've done!

Then we have Tess Fowler Gutierrez , who has written and drawn the best graphic novel of 2026! Super talented, and a very grim epic about emerging from years of darkness and abuse!

Last we have a whole shelf of Jeff Manley, the funniest voice in the new generation of comic books!

There we have it boisen berries! If you don't see your work here, never fear, I plan on giving more shout-outs in the future ๐Ÿ˜

Happy Birthday to On The Road. Written by Jack Kerouac and released on this day in 1957. Here is the manuscript he typed on a single 120 foot page scroll of paper, it sold this year for $12m.

The roll isn't even complete though. The ending is missing because a friend's dog chewed it off,ย Kerouac made a note of it right on the manuscript.

Funny Story by Emily Henry ๐Ÿ“–

A friend gifted me this on my birthday and somehow it has already been almost two years since I read it โœจ๏ธ

I remember Daphne and Miles ending up as roommates after both their relationships fall apart and the whole fake relationship situation with their exes

I honestly don't remember all the details now but I remember enjoying the book and the little chaos between Daphne and miles

Maybe it is time for a reread ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ‘“

Crime and punishment

Post image
Upvotes

I am currently reading crime and punishment and quite a blast Iโ€™m having. It exceeded my expectations. I was apprehensive of the possibility of not enjoying it after reading the many excellent reviews Iโ€™ve seen on the internet. Intellectually stimulating material. Genius yet simply curated. I would love to connect with people who have read it in depth or are currently reading it so we could discuss the characters in there. The storyline, Iโ€™ve determined, is of little significance to me at the moment. Iโ€™ve come to realize this is one of those books you would want to mull over with some other party. Itโ€™s so multilayered and I have so many questions. So do reach out if you are open to this suggestion.

In 2004, my wife and I had to donate nearly every book we had during a move to the USVI. What a difference a day twenty-two years makes.

Late Summer Read - Laurie Gilmore - The Daisy Chain Flower Shop

๐ŸŒผ Flowers. Fake dating. Slow burn. Found family. And a playlist that feels like sunshine. โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŽง

Some stories feel like sunshine through a flower shop window. Filled with fresh blooms, slow-blooming romance, found family, and the kind of love that arrives when you least expect it, The Daisy Chain Flower Shop is as comforting as a warm cup of tea on a spring afternoon.

Have you read it? ๐Ÿ’›

My collection of 268 NYRBs (plus a random shelf of classics & New Yorker magazines)

Bookshelf is from Ethan Allen, acquired on Facebook Marketplace for a shockingly low price. Lamp is original 1920s brass from a local charity shop.
After posting a photo of this collection on the NYRB Classics subreddit, I got interviewed by Timothy Kenny and did an extensive home library tour of my several other bookshelves too. It's very long, but if you're interested, you're welcome to check it out.
