Community news r/BitcoinCash FAQ - frequently asked questions and history.

Upvotes

The r/BitcoinCash subreddit is a forum dedicated to discussing the cryptocurrency Bitcoin Cash (BCH). The aim of this subreddit is to cultivate a space for constructive discussion about Bitcoin Cash. Intentionally disruptive behaviour and heavily off-topic discussion will be moderated accordingly. Please refer to the sidebar for the subreddit rules.

What is Bitcoin Cash?

Bitcoin Cash is a peer-to-peer electronic cash system. It's a permissionless, decentralised cryptocurrency that requires no trusted third parties and no central bank. With Bitcoin Cash you can safely and securely send money anywhere in the world, nearly for free.

For more information about Bitcoin Cash, please visit http://bitcoincash.org

Is Bitcoin Cash different from “Bitcoin”?

Yes! In 2017, the Bitcoin project and its community split into two. Perhaps the least controversial way to refer to each side is simply by their respective ticker symbols, BTC and BCH. While exchanges commonly refer to BTC as simply “Bitcoin”, Bitcoin Cash, usually represented by the BCH ticker symbol, is considered by its supporters to be a legitimate continuation of the Bitcoin project, and the version with the best chance of creating a globally adopted peer-to-peer electronic cash system.

Why was it necessary to create Bitcoin Cash?

Originally Bitcoin code had no blocksize limit but as Bitcoin gained popularity Satoshi temporarily added a blocksize limit of 1mb blocks to prevent the potential threat of spam transactions flooding and saturating the network because in these days a Bitcoin transaction was free. A maximum limit of 1MB of data per block, or about 4 transactions per second. There was also a sentiment among some Bitcoin Core developers that non-backwards compatible upgrades, commonly known as “hard forks”, should be avoided at all cost. This mindset severely limited the potential to introduce beneficial changes to Bitcoin, which were needed to prepare the protocol for mass adoption.

Although technically simple, the Bitcoin community could not reach a consensus on raising the block size limit, even after years of debate. In 2017, capacity hit the 1MB-imposed wall, fees skyrocketed, and Bitcoin became unreliable, with some users unable to get their transactions confirmed even after days of waiting. An average transaction fee of $50 took place in December 2017. As a result, Bitcoin stopped growing, and companies such as Steam and Microsoft began dropping Bitcoin, because it was no longer a cheap and reliable payment method.

In August 2017, a subset of the Bitcoin community decided to move forward with a proposed protocol upgrade, forking Bitcoin, and creating Bitcoin Cash by lifting the block size limit as a step towards massive on-chain scaling. There is now ample capacity for everyone's transactions on the Bitcoin Cash blockchain; low fees and fast confirmations are standard, and the network has been allowed to grow again.

Isn’t r/btc “the Bitcoin Cash subreddit”?

It is worth noting that the r/btc subreddit came into use before Bitcoin Cash existed. It was originally created as a forum for open discussion about Bitcoin. After August 2015, r/btc gained a large user-base when the r/bitcoin subreddit began censoring discussion about raising Bitcoin’s block size limit. After the Bitcoin community split over the Bitcoin Cash fork in August 2017, the r/btc Bitcoin community naturally became the Bitcoin Cash community, as that’s where its proponents already resided, having been ousted from r/bitcoin by censorship.

To this day, r/btc continues to offer a place for open and censorship-free discussion about all Bitcoin forks, with minimal interference by moderators.

So how does r/BitcoinCash differ from r/btc?

In July 2019, the r/BitcoinCash subreddit introduced a stricter moderation policy, following requests from the Bitcoin Cash community for an alternative and specific forum for discussing Bitcoin Cash. The intention is to offer a space that is more focused on specifically discussing Bitcoin Cash, as well as one that is free of the ongoing low-effort trolling that frequently takes advantage of r/btc’s principled commitment to free speech.

This subreddit now offers all users a choice about the kind of forum that they wish to participate in. The hope is that, without the distractions that threaten to derail discussion on r/btc, r/BitcoinCash may be able to foster a more focused, inclusive, and involved conversation.

*Update -Up until it was no longer possible, r/BitcoinCash had open to the public mod logs, but around 2 years ago Reddit admin removed the ability to share the mod logs easily.

A tiny BCH transfer still needs to fit the receiving service

Upvotes

"Send a tiny BCH test first" sounds sensible, but I'd want to see the receiving page before choosing an amount. I'd first check whether native BCH deposits on the Bitcoin Cash network are open. That's the kind of asset and network check BYDFi's deposit guide describes. The current receiving instructions are what I'd use to pick the amount.

If a receiving service states a minimum deposit, I'd check the net amount in the sending preview against it. A fee deducted from the amount I enter needs to be accounted for before I send. I'd also check the required confirmations. With my own wallet, I'd check for receipt there; with an exchange, I'd wait for the credit in my account before sending the rest.

Blockstream’s Liquid sidechain exploited for $320M—more proof they created a problem to sell an inferior product. BCH solved this in 2017, and with its new adaptive, virtually unlimited blocksize, never needed their broken solutions.

Services I Built TipMeBitcoin Because I Believe BCH Still Needed Something Like This

Thumbnail
tipmebitcoin.vercel.app
Upvotes

After a lot of work, testing, rebuilding, and problem-solving, I am finally ready to introduce something new that I am genuinely proud of:

TipMeBitcoin

TipMeBitcoin is a non-custodial Bitcoin Cash tipping identity.

The idea is simple.

Instead of sharing a long BCH address every time you want someone to send you a tip, you can claim a handle and have a simple public link:

tipmebitcoin.vercel.app/yourname

But claiming a name should not mean creating another traditional online account.

No email.

No password.

No giving a platform custody of your money.

You prove that you control your BCH address by signing a cryptographic message with your wallet. Your private keys never leave your wallet, and TipMeBitcoin never holds your BCH.

That is the part I care about most.

Your handle. Your address. Your money.

Once claimed, your public profile can give people an easier way to send you BCH.

TipMeBitcoin currently includes:

  • A unique BCH tipping handle

  • Cryptographic ownership verification

  • WalletConnect support for compatible BCH wallets

  • A manual signing option

  • BCH tipping QR codes

  • CashToken-aware addresses and tipping

  • A mobile-friendly claim process

  • Session restoration designed to make mobile wallet switching easier

  • No accounts

  • No email

  • No passwords

  • No custody

And yes, I have already successfully tested the full WalletConnect claiming flow myself and claimed:

tipmebitcoin.vercel.app/alberdioni8406

So this is no longer just an idea or a mockup.

It works.

But I also want to be completely honest: I am not calling it 100% finished yet.

Software needs real users, different devices, different wallets, unexpected situations, and people actively trying things that the developer might not have considered. That is where the next stage begins.

This is why I am opening TipMeBitcoin to the Bitcoin Cash community.

I want people to test it.

Try claiming a handle. Try different BCH wallets. Try the tipping profiles. Try to find problems. Tell me what feels confusing. Tell me what works well. Tell me what you think is missing.

Feedback is not just welcome. It is needed.

I have been involved with Bitcoin Cash for years, and I have always believed that adoption is not only about discussing the technology. Sometimes the ecosystem simply needs someone to build the missing pieces.

For me, TipMeBitcoin is one of those pieces.

A simple, memorable identity connected directly to a BCH address could make tipping, sharing payment information, supporting creators, and connecting people within the ecosystem easier.

There is still a lot to test and potentially improve, but I am proud of what has been built so far.

This is TipMeBitcoin V1.

Open. Non-custodial. Built around Bitcoin Cash.

Your handle. Your address. Your money.

Try it here:

https://tipmebitcoin.vercel.app

If you test it, please let me know what happens.

The good, the bad, the bugs, and the ideas.

Let's make it better together.

Services A radical new look for BCHTools.cash

Thumbnail
bchtools.cash
Upvotes

I felt that BCHTools.cash needed a major change.

The previous version wasn't fully representing what I wanted, so I decided to take the UI in a completely different direction: retro cypherpunk.

The result looks amazing, and more importantly, BCHTools.cash is becoming a central place for the tools I have been building for the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem.

Current progress:

  • 6 BCH tools already finished and running with custom domains

  • 9 more tools currently in progress

  • Some of those projects are awaiting funding

Others need community feedback to determine whether they should continue evolving

My approach is simple: I will keep building and doing my part for the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem.

Not every experiment needs to become a permanent product. Community feedback, actual usefulness, and support will help determine which projects move forward.

And September is becoming a special month for me.

September 26: Our BCH Meetup.

September 28: My anniversary.

What a month ahead. 💚

I would genuinely like to hear your thoughts on the new direction of BCHTools.cash and the tools currently being developed.

Services CASHRUSH: I Just Wanted to Build a Game People Could Actually Enjoy

Thumbnail
cashrush-play.vercel.app
Upvotes

For a long time, I've been building things around Bitcoin Cash. Websites, tools, dashboards, experiments and ideas. Some work. Some don't get the attention I thought they deserved. Some are still unfinished. But I keep building.

And now, I'm building something different: CASHRUSH.

A simple browser game where you run, jump, duck, collect stuff and try to survive for as long as possible. You don't need an account, or download and signup for anything and no wallet required. You open the game and play.

The game takes place in The Grid, a world with its own obstacles, collectibles and characters. You might jump over Fee Walls, duck under Red Tape and avoid Centralizers while collecting virtual sats, Cash Drops and Token Orbs.

There will be power-ups, achievements, unlockable characters and different sectors to reach.

But here is something important: you don't need to know anything about Bitcoin Cash to enjoy CASHRUSH.

That was one of the things I really wanted to get right.

I didn't want to create another game that forces crypto down someone's throat.

Nobody needs to connect a wallet before playing.

Nobody needs to understand blockchain.

Nobody will be forced to read a lesson before continuing the game.

Just play.

If someone unlocks an achievement and becomes curious, they can choose to learn more. Maybe they discover what a sat is. Maybe they learn something about peer-to-peer cash, decentralization, wallets or CashTokens. Or maybe they close it and continue playing. That's completely fine.

The idea is simple:play, achieve and discover, if you want.

I believe this could be another interesting way to introduce Bitcoin Cash to people.

  • Not through a complicated whitepaper.

  • Not through a two-hour presentation.

But through something simple and fun.

Someone could literally be playing a game and suddenly realize:

"Wait... I actually learned something about Bitcoin Cash without someone trying to teach me."

And honestly, that's the feeling I want.

CASHRUSH is not a token farm. It isn't an NFT game. It doesn't promise anyone money. The sats inside the game are simply game points.

Version 1 will remain focused on one thing above everything else:

Making a good game.

Of course, the architecture can eventually grow. BCH wallets, CashTokens and other ideas could become optional integrations in the future. But I'm not going to pretend those things already exist just to make the project sound bigger.

Right now, I just want people to play, have fun and maybe become curious about the ideas behind Bitcoin Cash.

My passion for building things around BCH is probably obvious by now.

I've spent years writing, researching, creating and launching things because I genuinely believe this ecosystem still has room for people willing to build.

But passion doesn't pay for everything.

So yes, I build because I want to build, but support, donations and tips are always welcome. They help me keep experimenting, paying for the things needed to launch projects and, most importantly, finding the time to keep building.

Every bit of support helps more than people probably realize.

CASHRUSH is another project coming from that same place, a simple idea, a game, a little bit of Bitcoin Cash culture. And hopefully something people will genuinely enjoy playing.

Run. Survive. Collect. Own.

Welcome to CASHRUSH.

🚨 BCH+XMR BANK RUN v44.00 (1st September 2026) with BCH BULLET !! 🚨

Post image
Upvotes

📰 📰 📰

Summer is still here! So check out BCH BULLET for latest hot news!

https://thebchbullet.substack.com/p/the-bch-bullet-sunday-30th-august

📰 📰 📰

XMR showing the way with huge pumps despite its many delistings. Lots of value to having exchanges unable to scam with naked shorting (although CEX accessibility is also good). We can have both, let's get BCH coins off exchanges & once again set the standard for cryptocurrency projects spreading the peer-to-peer cash mission!

Q: What is this?

A: The BCH community is experimenting with exposing the naked shorting used by exchanges (famously Binance didn't even report their BCH reserves for a very long time - unlike other major coins). Of course, this is simply another manifestation of attempts to suppress Bitcoin the p2p cash as outlined in "Hijacking Bitcoin" book. The idea is to regularly coordinate a day when the community withdraws coins from exchanges to on-chain wallets and suck up all the available liquidity, create an impact on the price & in an extreme case blow up a naked shorting exchange that can't meet its BCH obligations. Think of it like GME & Wall Street Bets for BCH, or the XMR community has a similar idea called "Monerun". This was discussed on Podcast episode 142 if you want to hear more.

Q: When?

A: Now. Any time during the window 0:00 - 23:59 on bank run day UTC time ideally, but if you miss the window slightly that's fine the day after still works. The bank run repeats on the 1st & 15th of each month.

Q: How do I participate?

A: Buy BCH on any custodial exchange (with any fiat or other crypto) & withdraw to your self custodial wallet. Then like this thread & leave a comment saying you participated. Any exchange that is easiest for you or crypto ATM or even any p2p trade works - as long as you are increasing your BCH held self-custodially then you are contributing to the pressure on custodially held BCH supply (which will naturally flow through the market).

Q: What if I don't use exchanges / all my funds are in BCH already?

A: Great work on living the p2p cash dream! You can still contribute by selling some goods & services on that day in order to increase your self-custodial BCH, as well as make noise on social media to spread the word to others!

Q: If this is predictably repeated & publicly announced, can't people "frontrun" it by selling into our volume?

A: Yes, but that's a win if they do. If BCH Bank Run is popular enough to noticeably move the price, it's already working. If it's getting enough attention that new people are getting interested in the ecosystem & the coin to follow BCH & think about it regularly - even if they start out as speculators - that's a win. The curiosity of why BCH is uniquely acting like this will lead them to delve deeper sooner or later.

Q: Anything else I need to know?

A: BCH started at rank 23 & has climbed as high as rank 10 (!!!) since this initiative began. Coincidence? Hard to say. Exchanges issues have been plentiful in blocking withdraws. The whole market is obviously a scam, but the good news is that bank runs is one way we can potentially uncover naked shorting activity. Keep an eye on the price & watch the price today & this week to see what happens (or distress among custodial exchanges). I will update this thread with anything I notice.

My experience with MK Pool

Upvotes

I've noticed some negative posts about MK Pool recently, so I wanted to share my actual experience since mine has been completely different.

I started solo mining BCH with just one miner and actually hit a block in my first week.

I saw the "Block Found" on my NerdQaxe++ when I got home and when I checked, the BCH appeared in my wallet right after the block was discovered. No delays, no excuses.

I wanted to provide a positive, first hand data point for anyone researching pools before making their decision.

Now I have three miners on MK pool and I have no hesitation leaving them right where they are.

Services I built another small BCH tool: BCHBooks.

Thumbnail bchbooks.vercel.app
Upvotes

The tool is for people who actually get paid in Bitcoin Cash and want to get track of their expenses and other financial data. Users just need to paste their Bitcoin Cash address and the tool scan all the transaction history. You get incoming/outgoing which gets organized into revenue, expenses and transfers.

Transactions can get tag, filtered by month, quarter, and exported into CSV or even PDF of you need those numbers. You don't connect wallets, the app will never ask for a seed phrase, connection or even sign-in.

You can just read the data and all stays in your browser so when you get back to the home screen all of that data get erased and you need to redo it. The tool is free to use but with a very dedicated "Bitcoin Cash donation address" after all builders need them to keep building, maintaining, updating, get a custom domain and much more.

I deliberately kept it simple:

- one chain (Bitcoin Cash), it has one job and is free so that anyone can enjoy.

Bitcoin Cash deserves peer-to-peer tools.

I built this thing, BCH is already inside it, and I want the community to break it/test it.

Thumbnail
ghostroom.xyz
Upvotes

I’ve been building Ghostroom, and I think the Bitcoin Cash community is one of the places where its idea makes the most sense.

Ghostroom is a browser-based ephemeral chat where you don't need an account, profile or permanent identity.

You enter as a temporary ghost.

Rooms can be created and shared through invites, messages are encrypted in the browser, and the room eventually disappears when the last ghost leaves.

I’ve also been building BCH Rooms specifically for the Bitcoin Cash community, with different room types, roles, lifetimes and actions.

And the latest update felt worth sharing here:

Ghostroom is now fully translated into 12 languages.

Not just the homepage.

The whole interface follows your language:

• Home

• Room panel

• Chat

• Create / join flows

• BCH Rooms

• Ghost birth sequence

• Death screen

• Tip bar

• Dynamic labels and session stats

English · Portuguese · Español · Deutsch · Français · 中文 · 日本語 · Filipino · हिन्दी · العربية · Русский · Indonesia

The idea isn't to build another permanent social network.

It's almost the opposite.

Come in. Talk. Share something. Then disappear.

And having a dedicated BCH space inside that system makes it even more interesting to me.

If you're curious, try it without creating an account:

https://ghostroom.xyz

I’d genuinely like to know what BCH people think of the concept.

Discussion Second solo miner finds a BCH block on mkpool, this time ~3 TH/s from Canada

Upvotes

In case nobody noticed, this is now the second small miner to find a BCH block here.

This morning a ~3 TH/s solo miner from Canada hit a block over Stratum V2 and bagged the full 3.125 BCH reward (about $872 at the time). Some people worry that higher ping to the pool puts them at a disadvantage. It doesn't. Solid implementation plus luck is what matters, and this proves it.

The lucky miner: https://mkpool.com/bch/address/qztvg7mr3yl6d2xcmehc6yled9f32g26rq2j92j6gu

Whoever you are, congratulations!

To everyone else running spare hash rate: point it here. Luck might find you next.
