In essence, I took any video clips I could find of Youtube of this one show, compiled them, edited them to be like a multicam concert video, and synced it to the CD. This is the closest thing we'll get to a real video release.

Right I’m jet lagged and can’t sleep just now, so apologies in advance for this. Fully aware we need a new album soon to end insane posts like this but we are where we are.

Basically I think that Alex Turner has been more influenced by Gerry Anderson’s 1960’s puppetry (Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and Stingray) than is generally acknowledged.

We’ve got the obvious reference to it in R U Mine? - Tracy Island is where the Thunderbirds are based and are clearly linked to the “Puppet on a String” line just before.

So far all normal, but then we’ve also got the video here from 1967’s feature film “Thunderbirds Are Go”. It’s all very trippy, a dream sequence when Lady Penelope gets taken to the moon. Where she meets a kind of retro-future house band for the moon (fronted by Cliff Richard). Sound familiar? It’s so specific that I feel like the TBHC link has to be in there somewhere!

Aesthetically it’s similar but honestly the whole kind of aesthetic of 1960’s space is pretty prominent so it coullld be a coincidence.

The next bit isn’t coincidental though.

This is basically a pretty deep cut - Stingray is very much a lowly 3rd in terms of popularity after Anderson’s other big two series. To drop it in pre-show would require someone to be a bit of a superfan honestly.

Anyone have any thoughts? Or am I sounding mad? If anyone could dig out more Anderson references in Alex Turner’s work I would love it!

I know this is such an over-asked question but I couldn't help but ask it once more. I'd love to see everyone's opinions on the album.
Personally, it's my favourite album from them. The lyricism is lovely, and I just adore the orchestral arrangements!! It may not be the most sought after work, but it just carries a different level of reminiscence and emotions that are awfully intriguing.
I understand why a lot of fans of their earlier music don't like it. Though, I think it's rather ironic, because that's what a lot of the album's about.

Its so good. It plays very well the stock gibson strings are really nice too

I know it's in Swansea. Anyone ever curious enough to locate the landmarks such as this, and perhaps the docks where Oliver convinced jordana to come over it's empty the house it's it's empty

Sandtrap and put me in a terror pocket are both said or at least alluded to have a studio recording, and they both were in many concerts pre 2009, i Don't think we'll ever get a full release looking at the state now but, maybe a leak of the studio recordings. What are the chances we ever get any leaks of the unreleased songs recorded in a studio

There is this instrumental section in ”There'd Better Be A Mirror ball“ at '3:49, the notes are the same from the ”Crawling back to you“ part in ”Do I Wanna Know?” I'm sure many of you have noticed that, but I wanted to know, has anyone noticed this sort of nod/callback in any other of the monkeys songs? To me, its a very cool detail, just like it says in the title, a leitmotiv which probably has a deeper meaning or connection to Do I Wanna Know but who knows.
