Upvotes

Hi, I’m planning a trip to Tanna. Does anyone know if it’s possible to rent a car there, or preferably a motorbike or scooter?

Cost of living in Port-Vila

Upvotes

Hello, I have a job offer in Port-Vila, and I'm gathering information on how expensive life is there.

For those who are also expats, coming from a Western country, what did you negotiate in your contract, and what is a must have in your opinion?

Thanks for everyone opinion :)
Best regards

Weird dream

Upvotes

Hi, I am a teenager in Albania and I had a weird dream about a family from Vanuatu. I knew the country before that it was an island nation in the South Pacific and its capital in Port Vila but nothing else. The dream was an eye opener and now I’ve fallen in love with the 86 islands. Vanuatu 🇻🇺 is now on my bucket list and I really hope to visit it someday.

Just a random question cause I see conflicting stuff online. I’ve seen some sources say 10-20% and others 90-95%.

Where to go to indulge in culture and explore in a week

Upvotes

hi I’m a 19 year old Aussie solo flying into Port Villa late sep and staying for a week. really spontaneously booked but the more I look the more interested i am

i don’t have any relatives or friends from vanuatu, so I’m not sure how i can immerse myself in the culture efficiently in a week. any reccomendations from people really enjoyed the culture?

also I’m into surfing (not great at it but I love it) and would love to, but not sure where because there seems to be breaks on a lot of the islands, but idk which is best (+ How to get to other islands)

what else is a must-do in Vanuatu for someone like me?

ps legit anything would help as i have a really surface-level knowledge on the place as a whole.thanks so much

Visiting south east fate

Upvotes

Hello! Im visiting South east Efate near Enam soon and was wondering what the food situation is? We will have a rental car and get breakfast in our accommodation. Are there places to get food nearby or would we be better doing a shop the day we arrive in Port Vila? Any other recommendations appreciated!

Need to pre book accommodation?

Upvotes

Hi all, we are a family of 4 heading over in September for 9 nights. We're not having much luck in finding accommodation. We're hoping to find a basic but comfortable beach house/bungalow in a great snorkeling location on Efate, thinking northside somewhere.

Would it be easier to wait until arrival to find a place? Or does someone have some suggestions with contact details?

Thanks!

Upvotes

Hi all,

I'm going to be on santo for 8 days and not sure where to base myself, or whether to move around to different parts of the island.

Has anyone got any recommendations for homestays/accomodation?

Thanks all :)

Two of those OCs are based on Vanuatu culture (they are siblings). In the first photo, the fish girl named Stitch is from Vanuatu, and the dragon girl named Angele is also inspired by Vanuatu.

I spent a few days staying beside Mount Yasur with a local family. It completely changed my entire trip to Vanuatu.

In May, I spent several days on Tanna staying at Glowing Mountain View Tree House with Joel and his family (would reccomend). It was truly such a special and incredible experience.

I think like lots of visitors, I originally headed to Tanna because I wanted to see Mount Yasur. But then after a few days there, the volcano really became kind of secondary. A couple months later now, what's stayed with me most was getting to know the family, drinking kava together (probably too much kava lol), hearing the volcano rumble through the night, and then learning what it’s actually like to grow up beside it.

I ended up making a short documentary about the experience. I know as a visitor I can never really fully capture what it’s like to live somewhere. So if anyone from Tanna or elsewhere in Vanuatu watches it, I’d genuinely love to know what I got right, what I missed, or what you think visitors should understand better about life there.

And if anyone is considering visiting Tanna, I’m happy to answer questions about my experience.

I'd love for you to take a watch if you like! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb120GOzll8

If I enter and exit Vanuatu with a Vanuatu permanent residence card, do I still get entry and exit stamps on my passport nowadays? Thank you in advance.
