Very clever marketing by SF Muni, notice the Blue of the word Dodger (could that be an implication of the LA Dodgers and their Dodger Blue?)

I had to do this for school, you can look at it if you want. There are a few formatting errors because I copy pasted it from Microsoft Word but I think it should be readable

Thanks for reading this!

Other In 1950 a circus loaded an elephant onto Wuppertal's suspended monorail as a publicity stunt. She panicked, burst through the side of the car, and fell 12 meters into the river below. She survived, lived another 39 years, and a German milk brand is still named after her.

Questions What led to the popularity of stamped tickets in Europe?

Upvotes

In places like the US or Asia, to ride the public transit networks, you used to use things like tokens or magnetic tickets (now replaced with things like chip cards or QR codes).

But in Europe, most transit systems (Berlin, Munich, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, etc.) used (and still use) tickets that you buy and then time-stamp in some sort of machine before riding.

Why is that? Basically no US/Asian systems use (or used) the stamp system, yet it's a popular and heavily used system in Europe.

Rant BAKET NASIRA KA LRT1 PITS STATION(SORRY PO KUNG MEDYO MABABAW TO BUT PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ IT)

Upvotes

Hi po, first time posting on Reddit. I just really want to tell this experience of mine to other people and atm, there's no one I can talk to about it. So eto na nga, for context, I'm currently a second year student sa ubelt and I need na lumuwas to Manila bcs I have classes tomorrow. It's raining hard on our area, like super hard because of habagat and orange rainfall warning na kame teh. Pero bumyahe pa ren ako bandang 5:30 pm umalis nako sa bahay kase wala paren suspension. The first part of my travel was fine. Even though I got wet from the rain while waiting for a bus to pitx, it's within expectations naman and nothing to frustrated over. But when I got to pitx, the problem starts. Even before boarding the train, I already had a hunch that there's a problem with it, because usually 2 mins lang ang waiting time ng train before closing and going on its way pero etong particular train na eto ay nakatigil paren for like 5 mins. Pero syempre ako gustong gusto ko na umuwi, I still went inside because I thought it was just a minor problem that can be fixed given a short amount of time. So nagboard nako ng train, binaba ko na yung bags ko and everything kahit nakatayo lang ako (not in a burara way) and I was just scrolling on my phone kase malay mo mag suspend diba. The doors of the train closed and I thought that finally aandar na kame but no, nagbukas bigla ulet yung doors ng train like super bilis and nagulat panga yung katabi ko at muntik mahulog yung phone niya. This situation repeated itself for like 30 minutes and the train was making weird sounds like it wants to go forward, but there's something stopping it from moving. At this point, I'm already exhausted. I waited for so long and di pa ren nila naayos yung train. I'm not criticizing LRT po ha, I'm just frustrated about the fact that my schedule is already fucked and I'll probably be at my dorm by 2 hours at least(maarte po kase ako sa oras and I already have a schedule on my mind on how I'll spend my day). So eto na nangyari na ang inevitable, pinababa na kameng lahat sa train and nag proceed kame sa counter for a refund. They gave as a sticker kind of thing that you can claim at other lrt stations but that's something I'll probably never claim. So eto na pinaplano ko na sa utak ko pano ako uuwi and this girl approached and asked me where I'm going. I replied na around SM Manila ang destination ko from PITX and she said if pwede makisabay kase di niya alam pano umuwi and she can get home by going to that area. Ako naman, nabigla sa situation kase what if scam to at makidnap ako or kaya anong masamang mangyari sa aken hahahhaa. Kidding aside, di agad ako nag reply kase diko naman siya kilala. Pero I still decided to accept kase if I'm at her situation, I'll probably do the same thing as her and ask strangers to help me get home which is not easy. So bumaba na kame from 3rd floor to ground floor ng PITX. Nakahanap kame ng bus to Fairview na dadaan daw ng city hall sabi ng konduktor. I checked with google just in case and it said yes naman. So we boarded the bus and got to our seats. At first, di pa kame masyado naguusap kase strangers lang kame, pero after ko mag bayad and makita yung receipt na naka lagay na 50 natawa nalang kame bigla. And starting there, we just told our own stories on how we got ourselves to that LRT situation. What makes it better is that the elderly woman besides us was also a victim of the LRT malfunction and she was talking with someone on the phone and just ranting her experience. Going back, apparently she's a 2nd year legal management student in letran and her last class this day was at 1 pm so she decided to explore and go to pitx. There she just wandered and ate then eventually when she's about to go home, the LRT malfunction happened. We just told stories about each other kase awkward naman kung hindi kame naguusap. I won't share the details kase mas hahaba lang ang post na to pero ang ending is, bumaba na kame sa manila city hall and parted ways because I'm heading towards SM manila and she's going to the line of jeeps near where we got off to go to Blumentrit. After all that talking in the bus for more than 1 hour, we just fist bumped each other and went silently on our ways without any words because we'll probably never meet each other again in our life(the amazing thing is we still don't know each other's names after all that). My message to her is that good luck sa course mo teh kahit dimo gusto yan, yayaman ka ren someday and makakahanap ng job na gusto mo. Hopefully maredirect ka to culinary in some way or the other. Thank you kase napakalma mo ako in a way that nakita ko sayo na despite being in the same situation as I am, hindi ka super frustrated and patawa tawa ka lang. I learned a lesson today na frustration won't really get you anywhere, it's better to be calm and think critically pa ren. Again, good luck sa journey mo teh and next time wag ka san san pumupunta😭. SORRY PO SA GRAMMAR AND CHOICE OF WORDS KO ANG HIRAP KASE PAG PURE ENGLISH OR PURE TAGALOG MAGKWENTO.

DISCLAIMER : MAY GIRLFRIEND PO AKO AND I'M NOT POSTING JUST TO REACH HER OUT
