Mods Message About new economic measures in Cuba.

Upvotes

Dear followers: As you may have read in the news cited here the day before yesterday, the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba approved 176 measures proposed by the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba and the government of the Republic of Cuba to revitalize the Cuban economy.

These 176 measures facilitate private investment, both domestic and foreign, in almost all sectors. They also propose converting state-owned enterprises into commercial companies, with the state holding the majority stake, and deregulate other aspects. One of the most controversial points is that the state will relinquish its power to cap prices and allow the market to regulate them.

Although the National Assembly approved the package of measures in just 3 hours (which includes a salary increase for workers in the state sector of health services, education, and other services—that is, those who do not work in state-owned enterprises), the debate on social media is enormous, especially among defenders of our Revolution. There is much discussion about the measures and their likely implementation, with messages ranging from descriptions of a betrayal of Fidel Castro's legacy and the end of Cuban socialism, to others defending the measures as a necessary and urgent remedy.

The situation of the Cuban economy is very difficult. The main cause of the crisis is the economic aggression of the US, intensified since 2019 and increased since January 2026, as we all know. This affects even trade and investment between other countries and Cuba, and even more so the supply of fuel, which especially affects public services and leaves 60% of our electricity generation capacity idle, as we have been denouncing.

Added to this is the government's ineffectiveness in preventing phenomena such as tax evasion by many private businesses, which refuse to allow customers to make digital payments, while simultaneously refusing to deposit cash in banks to buy dollars on the black market and continue importing for resale, not for production and export. The situation on this issue is not the same in all provinces, but it has affected payments to retirees and pensioners.

Is the Cuban Revolution in danger? It is at a very dangerous moment, subjected to a brutal siege and under the threat of imperialist military aggression. Added to this are the disagreements over measures that, from our point of view, have not been well explained and give too much space to private capital in a society where the state has always supported and ensured the lives of the masses.
We ourselves, Cubans, revolutionaries, and communists, maintain our confidence in the wisdom of our people, developed during 68 years of hard battles, and in the openness of our country's leadership to always listen to the population.
We will try to provide some additional information in the coming days.

The last school year ended early due to power outages and harsh conditions brought by the US fuel blockade.

But in Cuba, education is both a right and a duty – and everyone from the government to teachers and parents are making every effort to make sure it's guaranteed for children.

BT's @ldejesusreyes reports from Havana.

USA Gvt against Cuba When there are no more options left to exploit. The ration book are the best thing left to sanction.

When you’ve run out of options to exploit and your creativity only takes you this far, you resort to the lowest point of your creativity: sanctioning the basic food products included in Cuba’s ration book.

What do you think?

Analysis Cuba and the U.S.: Who Is Really Closing the Door to Dialogue? Spoiler

Post image
Upvotes

There are currently no negotiations between Washington and Havana, and the two sides reportedly cannot even agree on a basic agenda.

The U.S. points to Cuba's internal failures. Havana points to American sanctions and economic pressure. Meanwhile, ordinary Cubans continue to deal with blackouts, shortages, inflation and a deepening economic crisis.

But there is a bigger question worth asking:

If both governments claim to care about the Cuban people, why has dialogue become so difficult?

The answer reveals more about the current U.S.-Cuba relationship than the usual political headlines suggest.

Analysis Delcy Rodríguez and Venezuela’s New Political Reality: Sovereignty or a New Dependency?

Post image
Upvotes

Nicolás Maduro’s capture and transfer to the United States dramatically changed Venezuela’s political landscape, placing Delcy Rodríguez at the center of the country’s transitional government.

Since then, Rodríguez’s administration has entered negotiations with Washington over Venezuela’s oil industry and broader economic recovery.

Supporters describe the agreements as pragmatic: Venezuela needs investment and oil production, while the U.S. has a strong interest in Venezuelan energy resources.

But the arrangement raises difficult questions about sovereignty and who will ultimately control Venezuela’s most valuable strategic asset.

There is also a more controversial question surrounding Maduro’s capture. There is currently no sufficient public evidence to claim that Rodríguez conspired with the United States to facilitate his capture. However, the sequence of events deserves scrutiny: Maduro was removed, Rodríguez emerged as the central political figure, and negotiations with Washington followed.

The issue is therefore not simply whether Rodríguez benefited politically from Maduro’s removal, but what kind of political and economic relationship is now being created between Venezuela and the United States.

Is Venezuela building a sovereign future after Maduro—or simply negotiating who will hold the keys to its oil?

WorldNews 163 missing children recovered in Florida operation — but the story needs context

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Florida authorities have announced the recovery of 163 missing children, ranging in age from just 2 months to 17 years old, during a five-day operation known as Operation Statewide Shield.

The operation involved multiple law-enforcement agencies and covered several Florida cities, including Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville, Orlando, Fort Myers, Pensacola and Tallahassee. Investigators also worked across other U.S. states and internationally.

Authorities said the children were found in different circumstances involving abuse, neglect and exploitation, while some cases involved suspected human trafficking. Three arrests have been announced so far, with investigators expecting additional arrests.

One important clarification, especially given how the story is being presented on social media: the 163 children were not found together, and authorities have not said that all 163 were victims of one trafficking network. The number represents children recovered across multiple investigations coordinated during the operation.

The case is significant because of the scale of the recovery, but the details matter. It is a statewide, multi-agency effort involving many individual cases rather than one single raid or one criminal organization.

What do you think should happen next in cases involving missing and exploited children?

Please join us next Friday for a report-back and discussion with organizers who recently returned from their trip to Cuba with the Hatuey Project and Venceremos brigade.

We will be discussing the current political and humanitarian situation in Cuba, the potential for further US escalation, the Cuban healthcare system, and what lessons we can bring back to our work here in the US.

We will be raising money for the Hatuey Project, which provides lifesaving medicine to Cuban children with cancer who are otherwise unable to access their medication under the brutal U.S. blockade.

Cuban History Yesterday was the 66th anniversary of the Federation of Cuban Women.

Fidel Castro´s phrases about the importance of cuban woman for the cuban Revolution

The organization was founded in 1960 to unite all women's rights groups.

Since then, under the direction of Vilma Espín Guillois, a combatant of the guerrilla struggle, the FMC directed all efforts to increase women’s rights in Cuba and their actual exercise.

The FMC was the driving engine for the creation of the children’s circles, courses for working women and for former prostitutes, and subsequently also led the fight for the adoption of laws such as the Family Code, that of children and youth.

More recently, it also supported the fight for the rights of the LGTBI+ community through the new Families Code, put into effect after being approved in a 2022 popular referendum

In Cuba, for example, women receive the same wage for equal work as men, and postnatal paid maternity leave already reaches 15 months...
