Lincoln was far from the best. Do a little research and stop believing everything you’ve been taught.

I, for a matter of fact, have done quite a bit of reading about Lincoln.

Two things, Lincoln  was a brilliant man and accomplished amazing things. If not for his assassination, reconstruction would have been completed and his VP was a confederate sympathizer and allowed the confederacy to reestablish itself. Not really Lincoln’s fault there.

Secondly, Lincoln was a racist dipshit. He only pushed for abolition because he believed the western territories belonged to the poor white man and not the ultra-rich slave holders in the deep south. Lincoln actually wanted to deport the freed slaves to Africa. The civil war ultimately unfolded because the ultra-rich slave holder and the poor whites started fighting over land rights in Kansas. Also, Lincoln refused to have a secret service detail while going between the white house and solder house and had his fucking hat shot off is head and was all like, “Will ya look at that. Silly buggers musta been shooting at a crow on my hat” He didn’t really say that but he was a fucking moron regardless.

Granted that’s it’s not possible right now, but a really accurate assessment of how crappy a president is really needs to consider all of the long term consequences of their policies. We’ve had a long time to see the ramifications of Johnson and Buchanan, and not much time to see just how badly our current president is screwing us over. It’s quite likely that his foreign policy is enough to have ended Pax Americana, and that his tenure will oversee the US as a declining power.
