I'm sorry for not using you to the fullest. I don't know how many more of you I have left, but you will be missed, and hopefully next year I will take more advantage of you.

However, I've noticed that each year I'm getting busier and have less time for you. I also complain about the heat and humidity, and I'm sorry, but I'm just not a heat-type person.

Hopefully, one day I could be so rich that I could enjoy you for all 90 days you're here, completely free, with nothing holding me back. I could truly make the most of you.

This applies to all years, but especially first years. Please actually read through your syllabus, including the sections about tutorials and what happens during them. While you’re at it, write down important dates, deadlines, assignments, tests, etc. in your calendar or whatever you use to keep track of things.

I’m mainly saying this because I made this mistake myself in first semester 😭 I didn’t properly keep track of what was happening in my courses and ended up missing assignments worth like 5–10% of my grade. I literally had to beg my professors to let me make them up, and I ended up failing a class because of it.

I’ve also been seeing so many questions about whether tutorials are running during the first week. 99% of the time they don’t, but PLEASE double-check your syllabus because every course is different.

Seriously, your syllabus is your best friend. Take 10–15 minutes to actually go through it at the beginning of the semester and save yourself a massive headache later.

Hi I’m in first year and I’m just wondering what the best way to take notes would be?

I’ve heard downloading lecture slides and writing on top of them during lectures Is a good way, but does it work for every class? Or would using a computer to type up notes be better? Or does it depend on the class type? Pls help!!

Ive been here since the 31st on res and Im already at $3455. I calculated how much i would have to spend in order to have enough money for the entire year and it said $12 (including holidays excluding 2027 summer). How can one even eat 2 or 3 meals a day without running out early

My schedule has a bunch of tutorials listed, but I’ve been seeing people say that tutorials don’t start during the first two weeks. I’m a little confused about how that works.
If tutorials aren’t running during those first two weeks, are those time slots just cancelled, or are the classes replaced with lectures/other sessions? I’m not really sure what I’m supposed to expect from my schedule during the first couple of weeks.

I go on mosaic as soon as i get the alert. But it fails, i think i am getting the notifs so late...

hi! i’m getting surgery, which is scheduled tomorrow and am currently in the hospital. tuesday is the first day of class and being a first year, idrk what i should do or tell my professors.

how do you manage going from seeing your family everyday to only seeing them once a week or less. i just moved back to Hamilton 2 days ago and i already miss my family so much to the point where I am debating moving back home next year because i mentally can’t handle it. having no friends here makes it worse also.

i don’t have a parking pass and i wanna park my car infront of my res for a day or 2. Will I get a ticket? or towed? if i do get a ticket how much is it approx like is it worth the chance

Bonus points if they’re online and don’t have exams, but neither is a requirement. I’d also especially appreciate courses that are genuinely fun/interesting or good for meeting and connecting with people.

hi i am in now second year social science student. (please do not judge). i initially wanted to get into social psychology program but i was very much not paying attention with my academics in first year which is my fault so i was getting bad grades and failed 2 of my classes and it ended up having units issues so i wasn’t considered level 2 student until this summer like a week ago.

I reached out for help to advisors and they haven’t replied to me for more than a week and if i try to open another ticket they get mad at me asking me not to open another ticket. so i really need help from you guys.

i want to get into social psychology but since im undeclared i have to wait until my 3rd year to apply for a program. i already took intro to socpsych 1z03 and psych 1x03 and sociology 1z03 in first year but i got all Ds…. and they told me to get higher gpas so i have to retake all those to get into program i want.

if you need at least 60 units to get into third year, so its already 3 first year courses im retaking thats not gonna give new credits so im assuming i have to take spring/summer courses next year. what classes should i take now? tbh i can only take those elective courses since lots of courses requires specific majors and stuff but im not sure if theres any useful courses i should take or just take easy courses. please help
