Hey everyone,

We heard your numerous requests for a space where Lebanese people can connect beyond politics and news, and we are happy to introduce r/lebanonLounge, a new sister sub connected to r/lebanon, run by the same mod team as this one with some new faces joining in.

The idea is simple: a lighter space for the Lebanese community to meet people, make friends, post dating introductions, plan meetups, ask for relationship advice, talk about music, movies, anime, gaming, hobbies, gossip, and just unwind without politics or news taking over every conversation.

A quick overview of our rules:

  • No politics or news
  • No NSFW content or hookups
  • Be polite and respectful. This is a non negotiable.
  • Dating posts are for Lebanese people only, whether local, expat, or diaspora
  • No ads, sales, or promotions

If you are looking for friends, community, conversation, or just a more relaxed Lebanese corner of Reddit, come join us at r/lebanonLounge.

See you there ☕🇱🇧

News Articles "MTV Exclusive: Nadim Gemayel Video Triggers Judicial Investigation"

The duality of the Lebanese judicial system: Turns a blind eye on the rockets, missiles, military exercises, "100,000 fighters" and suicide drones of certain group but then gets very concerned about a couple of rifles in a video shared by Nadim Gemayel.

This just goes to show that the government only forces the law on some groups while blatantly turning a blind eye on others 😴😴😴

Help / Question Finding appartments for rent in Lebanon

Upvotes

Hi. I'm searching for an appartement for rent but I'm facing racism. I'm a Christian Syrian, my mother is Lebanese and I have valid residence in Lebanon.

Everytime an agent sees that I'm Syrian they stop responding entirely or offers me another appartment 20% over the average rate.

I'm looking for a furnished 3br appartment in a not too cold area (I have small kids). Location does not matter I work remotely. Preferably in Zouk Mkaiel or Sabtyeh/near Beirut.

What are the most tolerant areas for Syrians? I'm honestly tired after two months of this shit.

Politics Geagea has started going after nawaf Salam and Joseph Aoun

Another round of political parties criticising the government while having ministers in the government.

Instead of Geagea criticising the policies of this government, and there is much to criticize, he's just whining that his ministers are basically being ignored when it comes to the negotiations that are ongoing. Notice that his issue isn't any specific policy, but that his minister's and by extension his party's decisions are being ignored. The state should be sovereign over everyone except him apparently.

Culture / History Do you know of cultural practices, heritage, crafts, abandoned places... that are disappearing in Lebanon?

Upvotes

Hello fellow community!

I've been intrigued by heritage conservation in Lebanon, and by how much of our traditions are being lost because there is simply nothing helping sustain it. No security or social safety nets supporting craftsmanship for the younger generation to take it up.

I have been doing my research and found a few interesting ideas, but I am resorting to the reddit community for support and more ideas. Here is my initial very rough and small list:

- Tatriz

- Sherwel sewing

- Abandoned Silk factories

- Tobacco planting

- Pottery

- Church bells making

- Mouneh

- Children's lullabies sang

I also want to explore the story of Bjerrine, the abandoned village in the jbeil district. This is SOOOOOO farfetched, but does anyone know anyone from Bjerrine who may be able to talk about how it was actually before the mass displacement and abandonment of the village?

This is my passion project, so I am doing my own research and content creation and i really don't want to use AI. I feel like I have a responsibility to have these important cultural practices documented before we lose them. These are what made us thrive, and this fast-paced world coupled with the westernization that is taking over the country, I feel like we should all put our brains together and make sure we have a visual and written documentation, to pass our real identity to the future generations.

Thanks in advance and i hope that my plea for help reaches the right people who are able to help.

Discussion Starlink UAE 🇦🇪 vs Lebanon 🇱🇧

Upvotes

🇦🇪 UAE: Starlink was approved on 28 August 2026 and is already active, with unlimited data starting at around AED 300/month.

🇱🇧 Lebanon: Starlink was approved earlier this year, yet we’re still waiting for it to actually become available.

And honestly, knowing how things usually work here, I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually get limited data at a higher price. 😂

How is it that the UAE can go from approval to actually having the service running so quickly, while Lebanon is still waiting?

Anyone else in Lebanon actually waiting for Starlink?

Help / Question Volunteering Civil Defense 2026

Upvotes

I would like to volunteer in Lebanese Civil Defense, I live in Beirut and not familiar with the process nor have I met anyone with it.

I prefer or would ideally wish to go to the dangerous areas that have shown what is happening in Lebanon in order to aid or help in anyway I can, my question is would I need to relocate? or would I have some issues in that regard.

Given the situation the ideal way would be going there in person to be taken seriously, but some information not found online as in how long is the training to be capable of being directly sent to these areas and how can I balance it with work and graduate school?

Thank you for your assistance.

Help / Question I have a one day layover in Beirut. I'll be flying into and out of BEY, and I will not be leaving the city. What is the best way to get mobile service while I'm there?

Upvotes

I don't need calling or SMS; I only need data. I use Verizon at home (US), but their international service does not cover Lebanon. I will have Google Fi when I'm in Beirut as that is what I use when I travel, but Google Fi also does not have service in Lebanon, at least Lebanon is not included in the list. I believe AT&T works in Lebanon, but I don't have AT&T service, and it would cost quite a bit to get it for one day in Lebanon.

Is there an easy way to get a local SIM card when I land in BEY that isn't too expensive? I'll also be in Doha (downtown) a few hours before arriving in BEY, and I'll be on a layover at CAI. Is there a place at either of these places to pick up a SIM card that will work in BEY? Or, do Google Fi or Verizon actually work in real life?

TL;DR What is the most convenient way to get mobile service for one day in Beirut?

Discussion Fiber near Antelias/Mezher ?

Upvotes

Hello everyone !

I'm moving back to Lebanon soon (yeah i know big yikes) and trying to figure out if fiber’s actually coming to my area. I’m in Mezher, basically the upper suburb of Antelias, right below Bsalim. The surrounding area like Rabieh, Beit Kiko and Mtayleb are already equipped, Antelias seems to be too, and a friend just told me they started putting Fiber boxes in buildings around Fanar, Dekweneh and Jal el-Dib a couple days ago. Not sure yet if that’s actually Ogero or GDS though, since they run two separate networks.

From what I’m hearing, Ogero is still actively rolling out, just not transparent about where and when. Our DSL runs off the Antelias CO, which is already tied into the fiber backbone, so I keep wondering if we’re actually on the plan or if we’ve just been skipped over.

And our current setup is completely fucked, the telecom distribution box in the building I live in is literally hanging off the wall like a chandelier, held up by the copper wires. We’re getting less than 1 Mbps. It’s that bad lol

So if anyone has any sort of info, or works at Ogero or GDS/knows someone who does, I’d love to know whether Mezher/Bsalim area specifically is on the rollout plan.

Where I’m coming from, I had an 8 Gbps connection, so going from that to less than 1 Mbps genuinely feels like I’m going back to the stone age so im extremely desperate at this point 😭

Just praying there’s a gray fiber box waiting for me at the entrance by the time I get back.
