Serious Post Thinking of Joining SRM KTR Food Tech? Read This Before You Decide

Thumbnail
Upvotes

Honestly, if you're thinking about joining Food Technology at SRM KTR, I'd suggest you think twice and properly ask about how projects and placements actually work before taking admission.

We were recently told that doing our final project outside the college is now mandatory. The thing is, this was never told to us like this before. We were under the impression that we could do our project through the college with faculty guidance and use the department's facilities.

Now we're expected to find a company/research organisation on our own. And it's not as easy as it sounds because a lot of companies don't allow students to work with their data or projects due to confidentiality and privacy issues.

What makes it more frustrating is that we've already paid the fees expecting to have access to the college's academic facilities and support. So naturally, we're wondering why we can't even have the option to do our project within the college.

The placement situation is also confusing. Placement opportunities are advertised/communicated, but we're also being told not to expect placement support from the college. 😭

I'm not saying SRM should guarantee everyone a job or an external project. But if these things are going to be the student's responsibility, shouldn't that have been made clear before?

Just putting this out here because I wish someone had told me these things before I joined. If you're considering SRM KTR Food Tech, please ask these questions before paying the fees.

Serious Post Resume review, 20M from Tier-3, final year CS BTech, looking for a job in VLSI/Chip Design

Okay yes, I know I need to shorten this resume down, that is probably my main concern. It’s just that I’m a little confused on what exactly I should do here, what do I remove, what do I keep, how much do I keep, etc. I need help with that. I probably need to shorten it down to a single page.

Apart from that, I’d also like a general review of the resume. I’m looking for a job in VLSI/Chip Design, and the roles I’m targeting are RTL Design Engineer, Design Verification, or Logic Synthesis.

Please rate this ruthlessly, I need a reality check on this. I’d rather hear what’s actually weak or needs improvement than get a sugarcoated answer.

Connections would also come in handy, if anyone here works in this field and is open to connecting.

Thank you! If I’m missing anything obvious that I should be asking, I’d happily edit the post to add that in.

Discussion What If EV Motors Didn’t Need Permanent Magnets ? Vimag Labs

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

I recently looked into Vimag Labs’ ā€œVirtual Magnet Synchronous Motorā€ and found an interesting distinction between the marketing claim and the underlying engineering.

Magnetless/wound field synchronous motors and brushless excitation are not new concepts. What seems more interesting about Vimag’s work is its particular architecture using a rotating transformer for contactless rotor excitation, along with approaches for rotor temperature estimation and sensorless rotor position tracking.

So the question is: What exactly should be considered Vimag’s key innovation: the magnetless motor itself, or the way these functions are integrated into one architecture?

* How much of Vimag’s claimed efficiency is independently verified?

* Is ā€œVirtual Magnetā€ a technical term or mainly branding?

Discussion Is chasing a coding/CS career still worth it or is it just survivorship bias at this point?

Upvotes

Been seeing a ton of these rags to riches type stories about people getting into IT and blowing up career wise, and ngl it got me kinda hooked on the idea of going all in on coding. Also my cousin who's in FAANG right now, said to my other cousin (he's from tier 2) to just focus on codes n all and he'll see the placement and stuff.

But obviously internet success stories aren't exactly a reliable sample size lol. Ao wanted actual opinions from people in the field, is it still realistic to build a solid career in coding/CS right now, or has the market gotten saturated enough that these stories are more the exception than the norm.

Thinking to switch from commerce to PCM in 11th.

Also, is IT a good career after 5 years if you're from tier 2 college?

Serious Post Need working mini project ideas for 5th Sem ECE (VTU) – Submission tomorrow! Budget 5k–6k

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I'm in my 5th semester under VTU and need to submit/finalize a mini project(only idea)by tomorrow.

I am looking for solid, working project concepts that can be built quickly without getting rejected during evaluation. I have a budget of ₹5,000 to ₹6,000 and need a fully functional working model, not just a simulation or paper proposal. Open to ideas around:

* Microcontrollers / Embedded Systems (Arduino, ESP32, etc.)

* Basic IoT, sensor integration, or control systems

* Hardware-software integration with real-time outputs

If you've built something simple, working, and impressive within this budget for your 5th sem (or have concepts that aren't completely clichƩ like basic line followers), please drop them below. Any quick circuit diagrams, resource links, or component suggestions would be an absolute life-saver.

Thanks!

Rant Pushing myself

Upvotes

Honestly I have no motivation to push myself in tech but I ain't seeing any other way. Currently 5 yoe and 12 lpa, working to switch since probably will be laid off next month. Been studying on n off since feb but the kind of burnout I had due to work in the current company and seeing AI and layoff news I don't want to move ahead but with marriage and family and pressure to earn I ain't seeing any other way out. I hate it, I hate I have to do this, I wish I had a way out

We are super late because of the late deliveries and last-minute planning, but here we are!. Our teacher is honestly the best, and she deserves all the best things in the world. We couldn’t do this on Teacher’s Day, but we’ll make sure that on Monday, she’s the happiest person when she leaves college šŸ„¹ā¤ļø

Serious Post Got Roll No 1 In engineering

Upvotes

Guys I just got Roll No 1 in engineering and Im genuinely stressed 😭

Everyone keeps telling me, Bro youre cooked Everyone’s gonna be cheating from the last benches during exams and you’re gonna be sitting right in the first bench

Now I can’t stop thinking about it 😭😭 I know I shouldn’t rely on cheating or anything, but the thought of being the first person in the room while everyone else is sitting at the back is making me weirdly anxious.

Is Roll No 1 actually that bad or am I just overthinking this?
