Im financially OK and dont need to work for now, my business is making money. I dont want to spend more than 3k-4k USD a month if possible.

I need; access to beautiful nature, healthy food, people to sometimes connect with, I dont wanna be totally isolated. I am kind of running low on ideas. I feel like I have been everywhere already....

I dont wanna go to Bali or Thailand, I have been too many times and I am a bit tired of all the crowds there.

Any suggestions? Female, 35, I am Swiss but also speak Spanish and Serbian and obviously English.

I'm in my 30s and i love digital nomading. With that said, I see myself doing the same thing over and over again which are, work, go to the gym, go to sleep. Repeat.

Of course, I spend weekends doing a little more like going somewhere local to explore, go on dates, go out to eat. But day to day, it can be so boring because I'm not making friends.

I'm getting my life back in order to continue being an expat (again, 25+ yrs).

Is there a place I can spend 6mo a year in Africa, loving it?

• Consistent internet
• Blackouts less than 5 or 6 days a year
• No need for guns or a bodyguard
  
• Access to quality food ingredients (we cook)
  
• Decent health care, and good shopping (woman's clothing most important) less than 60 minutes away.

Im thinking about where to move to teach English remotely. What parts of Brazil, Peru, or other gems in Latin America would you recommend looking into moving to?

Some background: I speak Spanish, did the Aux program in Spain and have already been to Mexico. I love community, I love living the local life, but not in a small community where everyone knows everyone. I love Mexicans because they are so friendly and instantly adopt you into their culture and family. I’m looking for a similar experience. I’m open to being around expats as well but I’m not trying to be surrounded by English speaking expats 24/7.

Looking for a low budget cost of living situation. I’m open to learning Portuguese and think I will pick it up easily after a couple of months.

I also love the ocean so would appreciate somewhere close to the water. I like cafes, diverse cuisine (not just local cuisine/restaurants) and walkable cities. If public transportation isn’t the best then I’d like reliable uber/ride equivalent.

Eventually looking to get residency too!

I am going in a completely different direction in life and have decided to put all my stuff in storage and go work on a boat.

With that being said, an issue I am running into is what to do for a "physical address" for banks, government info, etc.

I have looked into traveling mailbox which would be fine for me, but I have been told that banks and brokerages (like Charles Schwab) will reject these addresses and freeze your accounts.

So how do you all deal with that? Any advice from the experts?. Im in the United States.

LATAM definitely is my all-time favorite region! Seven countries so far: Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil.

Next year I want to do the whole thing overland. CDMX all the way down to Ushuaia (ideally - I wouldn't mind getting stuck or stay longer in a region I love. Pretty flexible). Central America has me the most excited, and in South America I'm especially curious aobut Bolivia, Chile and Argentina.

I'd love to hear from anyone who's done a long overland stretch of this:

1. Favorite parts: instead of just going from point A to B. Which cities would you loved to stay longer?
2. Time: How long did you go and how much did you spend (as a solo traveler)?

Hi I have a small chihuahua (11lbs), US citizen. Researching places that I can spend time to recover and focus on my business. But, flights and logistics with a pet can be tough. I already have ADHD and worry about figuring it all out alone. Has anyone ever traveled with their pets successfully? Or maybe house sitting may be a better option for me?

Applying for the Colombia DN visa through a lawyer (I am from the U.S.) . They said I need a letter *specifically* stating that I can work remotely *from* Colombia.

Like most of you I'm on the don't ask don't tell policy. I provided my offer letter and an HR thing saying I can work remote. Of course it won't say *from any country outside the U.S.*

Anyone know how strict this requirement is? Chat says the lawyer is being overly cautious with language when the official site is more generalized. Well aware that it depends on the agent's mood.

I have been one bagging for the past couple of years (ok maybe not strictly one bagging, but I have been traveling super light). So far so good. One of the things that I definitely miss is having a second monitor, dealing with artwork and spreadsheets with my laptop is not exactly the most optimal.

I happen to be in Berlin when the IFA tech show is happening now. Trade shows are usually no go for me. But I feel like since it has been more consumer product focus in recent years (from what I gather on Reddit), then yeah I might as well check it out tomorrow and see if I can score something portable and cheap.

Ideally, it should be a screen that's 13-15 inch that can fold in half. So I can fit into my tech pouch. I am eyeing a couple names after browsing online, Uperfect bendables or something along the lines of the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i that kind of setup. But I would prefer not to get a new laptop tho, since mine is working just fine.

Not sure in the long run it will last. I know I am not exactly gentle with my gear.

Need no stress environment, so don't want to pick the wrong spot. Also December might be high season of ppl escaping European winter.

Anyone can recommend private accomodation, closer to the centre. Safety is a priority (for female). Also quiet at night would be second priority 😅

I plan to take a break of 12-18 months and travel with the wife and two kids below 4 yrs. I have a successful real estate business which I can manage from everywhere.

In that period I want to travel to 4-6 places and stay 2-3months each.

Where would you suggest to go?

I was thinking Cape Town in winter/spring, Southern France in summer, Thailand in late spring, maybe California or Florida in fall…

Any other ideas or completely different plan/suggestions? Please share what you would do in my shoes

We value places with a strong international or even FIRE community which allows to connect with people even during the relatively shorter stays eg Cape Town or Southern France are great in that.

Hi all, I was curious if anyone has found a good coworking space for remote work at night? If you haven't, do you wish you could find a good one?

At my coworking space they provide me with an outlet behind the monitor. I have 4 items that need to charge on that desk: laptop, phone, portable monitor, earbuds case… All with just one plug.

I’ve been going back and forth between which device needs to be connected first because I don’t want them all to run out. Has anyone who works out of Southeast Asia come across a good compact multi-port solution?

I’m looking to upgrade my headphones for traveling and working remotely, but honestly there are way too many options and I’m having a hard time narrowing it down.

I’ll mainly be using them on flights, in airports/cafes, and while working from different places. Comfort is probably my #1 priority since I can easily have them on for several hours. Good noise cancellation, battery life, and decent mic quality would be a big plus too.

I keep seeing Sony, Bose, Sennheiser, AirPods Max, etc. recommended, but I’d rather hear from people who actually travel with their headphones regularly.

Earlier this year I decided I wanted to go to Japan again but for 6 months this time. Last year I had gone for 3 months and really enjoyed it.

So I prepared documents and filled out the form for the digital nomad visa. At some point during this process I discovered British citizens can stay for 6 months anyway if they extend at an immigration office, but since I had already done the work and wanted to be fully legit with regards to working, I went to the Japanese embassy in London to apply.

The first thing they asked me is if I was employed, and I told them I was self-employed under my own company.

She said "since you don't have an employer requiring it, you don't really need this visa".

I was astonished. She went on: "the digital nomad visa isn't really popular in the UK since British citizens can stay for 6 months anyway".

I mentioned the need to do my job and she said "it's fine, it comes under business activity" and showed me a document highlighting the part that says "...for tourism, business (without paid activities from the organiser/inviter in Japan)...".

I had no reason not to believe her. We had a bit of a laugh about misinformation online, I took my documents, and left.

I went to a cafe and booked a flight. Had a great time for 6 months. Extending the visa took about 90 mins in the immigration office. I left the country with no incident. I'm in Thailand now with the DTV.

Anyway this was obviously surprising to me because if you spend any time researching online, most people on Reddit (including this sub) and other parts of the internet would have you believe it's highly illegal and you risk arrest, deportation, fines, etc., but instead a very much Japanese official was telling me it was all good.

Not to take this as legal advice. I don't know if the rules are different for non-British citizens. Check with your own embassy.

I currently have ties to two different countries, but I don’t necessarily plan to settle permanently in either one. I could also see myself to keep moving between countries fairly regularly in the future.

What kind of health insurance would make the most sense in this situation, especially if I want coverage for both everyday healthcare and hospital treatment?

Would it make more sense to get an international health insurance policy that covers me across multiple countries, or is it better to have local health insurance in one country and rely on travel insurance whenever I’m abroad?

It seems that way to me. Like people in countries I visit, when they learn I’m from the USA they ask me for a tip for food or gas (happened yesterday) or anywhere really.

I wonder, if people in countries I visit, think I’m accustomed to a country with a tipping culture, so they’ll ask me for a tip whenever they can. Or is it just because I’ve spent so much already just to get there, that they think I have more money to give? Or is it all in my head?

The guy at a the gas station yesterday in Chile, just engaged in small talk but did not offer to clean my windshield, so I rejected his offer for a tip.

So I’m with a company that’s fully remote. One guy on my team works from another country(he lives there so I guess they have an agreement). Another I’ve heard has been in Europe while working.

I just have been working in different states. I’m like a digital nomad but within a certain region of the US. My permanent address is in a different region. I guess I’ve been way too upfront about my movement and now they’re saying things like - we really prefer if you work remote from just one place, and any changes in work location should be disclosed 45 days in advance (how is that always possible?)

Anyway I told them a certain month I’m supposed to return to my permanent address which right now I don’t really intend to. I don’t have a permanent address where I currently am living, so I think giving them my actual permanent address and not changing it is simplest. But then I’d be lying about where I am. Tips?
