A middle school custodian was suspended and later resigned after secretly living above the school auditorium for six months. He furnished the space with beds, furniture, and a mini-fridge, and had his four children stay with him on weekends because he had nowhere else to go.

What if they did something really really crazy like, I don't know, let him keep his job, help him find a place to live, and pay him enough to afford rent?

Agree.

Obviously they can't let him live in an attic without spending money to bring it up to code, and although I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with an employee living on site, there will definitely be parents who make a stink. They didn't need to fire him and they could have been a bit more humanitarian and recognize he needs help
