I was an administrative assistant for a few years and managed teenagers at the YMCA for a few… I found myself always going back to those tough kids no one else wanted in their classrooms. I’ve been assaulted by students several times, once leading to premature labor. But if at the end of the year even one kid is better because of me, I find it worth it.

The median Master's Degree salary in the US is about double what she makes now.

Looking at Florida's Retirement System Pension Plan, and taking into account the average company's 4-5% 401K match, a 7% return on invest, etc... her retirement would be nearly identical provided she's able to find a $75,000 career.

And that doesn't even take into account the extra money in her paychecks at a different career.

Janitor and custodian jobs frequently pay well, same as garbage collectors. People just dont want to do them
