Give Hampton one second back, let them try a Hail Mary.

Are you guys still an Under Armour school?

u/YodaForceGhost Maryland Terrapins • Big Ten Network 2d ago

Yes, and we will be forever cause the founder is an alum

u/YouSeemNiceXB Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 2d ago

Ah. That's pretty cool. I like when y'all are good. It's fun watching SVP get hyped for Maryland.

We miss playing the Jackets!

Michigan threw a hail Mary to win

Michigan threw a Hail Mary that went out of bounds after time expired to lose.

*paid for a Hail Mary to win

u/opxdo1 2d ago

Oh wow I didn't see the play before. If you play for a program like Michigan you really going to celebrate after getting a do over and winning a last second play over a team you should have beat by 30 points.

Not now we’re busy.

62-0 and Maryland didn't even need to break a sweat in the second half. Hampton's bus better have the engine running already.

The September part of the cycle is going swimmingly for the Terps…

Fuck Michigan

Don't let the fact that this game took forever to end on ESPN distract you from the fact that Michigan did not actually win

u/DarthNobody14 Texas A&M Aggies 2d ago

Good job Maryland, congratulations on not cheating your way to a win.

Good for you Maryland. Now let’s talk about Western Michigan.

And he gets to win on a last phantom second Hail Mary?? WHAT A JOKE

September Maryland is the best team in College Football

October Maryland is most frustrating team

November Maryland is a laughing stock

Maryland currently has the longest active non-conference winning streak in the nation. September Maryland is an unstoppable juggernaut.

Am I sweating a little for next week? Yes.

Am I still mad at whatever that Michigan “game” was? Also yes.

Never will I disrespect our opponent, so I’ll first say good game to Hampton first, best of luck the rest of the way to you guys! We chatted with a couple of fans sitting next to us, just an absolutely delightful group.

Now, onto the fuck Michigan segment of the post…

Sorry guys I’m sure this was fun or whatever but I’m too busy rioting

u/PoopittyPoop20 Indiana Hoosiers 2d ago

Maryland rostered a freshman with a DV conviction. They suck too.

u/Winter_Win_5531 Maryland Terrapins 1d ago

In our (kind of) defense, he’s suspended indefinitely. Hopefully removed from roster once the internal investigation finishes up.

September Maryland is here

I don’t like feeling so negative after a 62-0 win, but Hampton was a 1-10 team in the FCS last year. You can’t take much of anything away from it except how your team executed in a vacuum. Running game was good and we dominated the lines and intercepted some arm punts but that should be a given. Alot of things looked rough.

Malik was a mess, jittery in the pocket with poor footwork and accuracy on what should be easy throws. I think he’ll settle but that was a bit of an issue last year too. I didn’t like his pocket awareness either - he rolled out into pressure more than once despite the pocket being clean the whole night.

The WRs were awful. Something like 6 or 7 drops or misreads out of 12 incompletions but I felt against this opponent they also should have been far more open than they were.

I had a major issue with the playcalling, same as last year with all the bubble screens and throws to the flats with the WR not being able to turn upfield before getting hit. Stop throwing designed 0 air yards passes on 3rd & long.

And lastly, what the hell was this kickoff strategy? We’ve got this all conference kicker, a backup kicker who is our kickoff specialist, but instead we have our punter practicing NFL-style dirty kicks. Fulcher did a little better but still booted one OOB and had 4 returned, to only 3 touchbacks.

u/Mikey456 Maryland Terrapins 1d ago

It looked more like squib kicks to be honest rather than a knuckleballer type thing. I didn't like it. They got killed in the return game last year, just kick it out the back of the endzone like everyone else does in college football.

Webb has regressed, looks like. The drops are just inexcusable. Dunno what was up with Malik, but that cannot continue either. At least Gladding seems like something of a dude.

fuck Michigan

u/AriDreams Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 2d ago

Unlike Michigan, Maryland didnt need an extra second to win.

u/TheMoneyMan08 Virginia Tech Hokies • FAU Owls 2d ago

Michigan would have added a second and won this game.

u/LightningDusty Florida Gators • Orange Bowl 2d ago

Everyone in the B1G is better than Michigan. Yes, even Rutgers, because they DIDN'T CHEAT!

u/Notlikeotheraliens 2d ago

Hampton just ran out of time

u/Mikey456 Maryland Terrapins 2d ago

Malik looked like he had the yips when he was throwing from inside the pocket and looked like he was fine whenever he left the pocket. Ominous.

Anyways, the run game and front 7 was awesome. Way better than last years early season performances in that regard. DeJuan should be the guy and get most of the carries, I think. Howard and Dalton looked kinda meh. I think things work best when you get your athletes in space with the ball. Gladding, Durr, and Zymear Smith from the backups come to mind. Webb was hot garbage.

u/ToxicMarylandFan Maryland Terrapins 2d ago

Yep, this was not Maryland beating Hampton, this was Hampton beating itself. Very concerned about how awful Malik looked.

u/Mikey456 Maryland Terrapins 2d ago

I do think the defense deserves credit for how dominant the front 7 in particular was. Gap discipline was great, Holmes and Elee looked explosive in their get off on pass rushing reps, and the lateral pursuit was great.

I don't know if the running game stuff will translate. Hope it does but even our backup line was opening big holes and this is not a well thought of group. Maybe Trickett has some scheme edge in his rushing plan.

As for Malik, we'll know more next week. It might have just been jitters or something. The problem is his accuracy, frankly - he is not throwing a ball that is catchable and he needs to because these guys aren't good enough to have larger target windows

u/hm_rickross_ymoh Maryland Terrapins 2d ago

DeJuan Williams 3 carries for 116 yards and 2 TDs

u/Blendbeast15 BYU Cougars • Montana Grizzlies 2d ago

If the game was 60:01 I think Hampton would've had a chance

u/Wrecktify_777 Michigan Wolverines 2d ago

I've never even heard of Hampton

Maybe Michigan can play them week 1 next year

u/Mikey456 Maryland Terrapins 2d ago

They're an HBCU with one white guy who is their punter

This kind of team has a type and it's cheeks. Morgan State, Howard, Norfolk State, etc.

They committed like 6 delay of game penalties and the people in our section thought they were doing so to run additional clock before punting or on 3rd and long to try to shorten the game
