I would argue CU's 5th down qualifies but the list is very short

For the 5th down you could “argue” that even if the turnover on downs was given, something technically could’ve happened on the subsequent kneel down. Here, the game is just straight up over, no if ands or buts.

In the 5th down game, on 5th down Colorado was stopped short of the goal line and the refs still called it a TD.

The few other games that come to mind are that Central Michigan untimed down vs OSU and that downed lateral play from Duke vs Miami.

The CMU one is weird because by rule they shouldn't have gotten the play but also it was a dumb edge case in the rules that, iirc, they changed after the fact -- a game isn't allowed to end on a defensive penalty (to prevent the defensive team from committing a penalty to run out the clock) but there was no such rule against a game ending on a loss-of-down offensive penalty. By rule CMU should have lost but like, "morally" they probably should have gotten the untimed down.

I think the only way you can justify overturning a game after the fact is if the last play either should not have happened or was called/ruled incorrectly in a way that is totally undeniable. Blown calls suck really bad but missed PI’s happen, and if there’s any time left after any crazy shenanigans could happen (we’ve seen fumbles on kneels before).

This and the other mentioned games have single incorrect rulings that definitely decided the results of their games.

I feel like the category of plays that SHOULD HAVE NEVER happened is different from the blown calls category. But I do think that was a BS call. Formative memory

A week from now, the NCAA will finally come to a ruling that UM was found to have cheated during the Western game, and that UM will have to face punishment, so death penalty for U Mizzou
