This was a sloppy game but the defense clamped down when it was needed and Luke Weaver, despite the two turnovers balled out when his number was called. Great win on the road!

Yeah the EMU offense struggled a bit in the second half. Kim was scrambling late because the OL couldn't get blocks.

Pulled out the win with all those penalties and false starts. Without those I think SJSU wins by 2+ scores. Which is promising since it’s only the second game of the year and that can be improved.

Glad we leaned on the run game compared to the last couple of years

Between winning this game and watching Fresno flailing hard against USC must be great for Spartans fans

Beautiful day in SJ, Fresno and Stanford lose

Despite San Jose state trying everything in its power to lose the game, they still won. It’s crazy how many penalties they had and still won. It’s like both teams forgot they had a game today. Pretty fun watch tho! That’s why everyone loves MACtion!!

Both the offense and defense had spurts of looking good (that strip sack was awesome to see), but neither was consistent, with the offense being downright bad most of the second half. And damn, if Noah Kim keeps playing like that it’s gonna be a long season.
GG to SJSU, if y’all can work through those self-inflicted wounds (seriously how’d you keep getting delay of games) yall should have a good season
•
u/nosotros_road_sodium San José State • Michigan 3d ago
Those delay of games were on purpose, trying to get EMU to jump offsides on fourth downs.
•
u/McHungies Michigan • Eastern Michigan 2d ago
I know the OL didn’t give him enough time or space most of the second half, but Kim was bad. Not setting his feet, bad reads, poor mechanics. For a 25 year old who’s one of the oldest guys in the league I’d expect some of the basic stuff to be better.
If he keeps it up I don’t see the reason to keep him out there. He can’t come back next year, and if hit the skids for three or four games in a row something else has to happen.

That was a good game. San Jose State did everything they could to lose, but Eastern Michigan was really disappointing in the 4th quarter.
San Jose State needs to clean up the penalties and turnovers, but they do look better than they were last year at least.

What's wild is that SJSU played a turnover-free game at USC. Same USC that just shut out Fresno State.

Pretty cool to see Weaver doing his thing. Would have been fun to see what he’d do with Scudero.

I miss Scudero

Me too. It's too bad however that he's not their starting WRs at Colorado.

SJSU looks like a good team. They won vs a mediocre but veteran team on the road and the game was only close due to self inflicted wounds.
Redditors killed USC for their 2nd string giving up points to the Spartans in the 4th quarter. When SJSU goes 9-4, that take will age like curdled milk.
(I hate USC btw and hope they go 2-10. This is a SJSU praise post)

That OL is ass bro the EMU QB had like 0.01 seconds to throw. 43 attempts for 174 yards is diabolical

The defense played pretty well in the first half, and kept the offense in the game. If the OL continues to play like this, it’ll drag the rest of the team down with it. Maybe they’ll improve with more reps together, or maybe the play calls will be tweaked to accentuate their strengths and hide their weaknesses.

Shot ourselves in the foot about 5 or 7 times ... and still hobbled down the field enough to win it. Good work.

The offense of EMU has looked terrible these first couple games
•
u/Difficult_Trust1752 Eastern Michigan • Penn State 3d ago
That wasnt supposed to be the problem, but dogshit OL
•
u/NoAirline3904 3d ago
Yeah, the o-line is definitely concerning after being pushed around in back-to-back games. The LBs look elite at least.

Ugly ass game, but a win’s a win. No MAC team from the state of Michigan beats us 3 games in a row. Nobody.
