Roscrea is now actively looking for QA Testers!

Post image
Upvotes

Attention everyone! Sailors and wanderers, adventurers and pilgrims! Have you ever dreamt of travelling to the northern shores of Roscrea, ruminating on the mighty quests and thinking of the hearty stews and comfortable hearths? Over the last months, Roscrea has made incredible strides, and we're closer to release than ever. And while the Northern Stallion is not setting sail quite yet, Roscrea is looking forward to take the next step towards that final departure across the Sea of Ghosts.

Roscrea is now actively looking for QA Testers!

We need you (yes, you! The one with the nose) to help us find every floating rock, jittery tableware, every typo and every game-breaking bug. QA Testers are, essentially, those that make sure that everything works as intended - a role indispensable for game development.

To that end, QA Testers will comb through the lands, probing, exploring, investigating, and even inspecting everything. You are expected to provide level designers with clear feedback in regards to the level design, to inform implementers of wonky scripts or bugs, to point out typos to the writers, and show 3D Artists visible seams in meshes and textures, or point out faulty collision. You will be able to explore Roscrea, yes, but we need you to have pen and notepad at the ready, so to speak.

If you wish to join us, check out the Roscrea QA Test! Similarly to Cyrodiil, we wanna make sure you got what it takes. Simply follow the instructions on the document.

That does not mean that QA is all that's left - no! Roscrea nearing the finish line, ever so slowly. At the moment, we are in dire need of both Interior & Exterior level designers, as well as Implementers. In addition, we are still looking for 3D artists and Sound Designers to complete any remaining tasks.

Quick update! Progress on the Khajiit lowerclass furniture set - Beyond Skyrim: Elsweyr

Upvotes

A quick update to this post.

Thanks to a handful of dedicated members, most of the set is now ingame! It's still missing the wall clutter, as well as animations & the implementation of interactions such as sitting on chairs and putting stuff in chests. These screenshots are from test cells that were created to experiment around with the set as part of its development process.

Alongside our existing Farmhouse set and clutter, we are starting to get a very clear picture of what interiors will look like in the many villages of the Greater Rim. Hope you enjoy them as much as we're enjoying them on the team 😻 This progress is in parallel with an extremely active writing department, currently creating the quests and characters for these same villages. More details on this will be available in the next issue of Words from Elsweyr.

Please cheer for: Scarlette (3D modeler), Polzynn (LD and implementor) & Lilum (implementor) who made this possible this fast!

Question on BS Argonia

Upvotes

I don't know if this has been asked before but...

How is the interior/heart of Argonia/Black Marsh going to be handled? Like, isn't the heart of Black Marsh supposed to be inhospitable or deadly to non-Argonians? Isn’t that why Tiber Septim could only conquer the outer edges of Black Marsh?

Could someone please tell me if the Bruma mods on XBox have a recommended play level, or does it scale like in Skyrim.

Also am I right in thinking that there’s soon to be new Beyond Skyrim mod release on XBox, or is it just on Pc.

Thanks

Random small queries.

Upvotes

Hi all, not looking for anything big, or even for answers to some of these, but I thought I'd put a load of random, niche, and smaller queries into one post without bloating the subreddit's feed, addressed to multiple teams And regions.

1: will we encounter any daedric princes/quests and daedric items from prior games in any of the projects.

2: will there be a deeper exploration of ayleid culture in Cyrodill than in base game oblivion, in terms of characters and society as opposed to the relatively scant knights of the nine lore.

3: will there be any/more akaviri ruins/ other traces in Cyrodill

4: will there be any consideration toward new spell types/elements

5: will there be a crowns/forebears questline/ involvement in illiac bay

6: will the foresworn movement have any presence in high rock.

7: Will there be greater exploration of the meade empire and its history before the great war but after the stormcrown interregnum.

Is BS:Morrowind re-using assets from Skywind?

I'm not sure if that's legally allowed, but if it is, it seems like it could speed things up a lot.

CMC Query, Bruma news

Upvotes

Hi all, just a quick question relating to the Cyrodill showcase on cmc. About the short announcement made about a "substantial" update for beyond skyrim bruma coming soon on the social media channels. I was just wondering if anyone would be able.elaborate on this, but I understand if nobody can at this point.

Answering Elsweyr questions from Creation Mod Con 2026

Upvotes

Creation Mod Con is over! You can watch the VODs of the event on the con's Youtube channel. Elsweyr's segment can be found here (timestamped). Standalone videos with translated subtitles will be available soon.

Quick post to answer the chat questions regarding Beyond Skyrim: Elsweyr. We thank you for the overwhelmingly positive feedback this year's showcase has gathered. I am answering these as an individual and might have limited knowledge on some questions, this is just a rapid reply to honor the chat's inquiries we could not address on the stream itself. Warm sands...!

  1. While not a proper question, we noticed inquiries and disappointment regarding the lack of new furstocks in the showcase. Truth is, we do not have organic modellers currently on the team, and our versatile modellers are busy making assets for our overworld. New NPC races & new creatures have been shelved in terms of priority to focus on LD. The furstocks are still planned, their 3D models just are not being worked on right now. We are actively looking for organic modellers to resolve this sooner than later.
  2. SuperMonty1 asks: do khajiit keep dogs as pets? There's no reasons for them not to. However, the dogs we do have planned for the Greater Rim are not of khajiit breeding, but of rimmenese. There are wild dogs, and a breed descending from them bred for use by the Regulators. They are inspired by the "Rimmen ringtailed wolf" pet from ESO, reinterpreted by our team.
  3. janbarbera2161 asks: Will there be many orcs in Orcrest? We confirm, there will be at least 1 orc in Orcrest, and a good orc, too.
  4. Ostarrichi996 asks: will we see M'aiq the liar or descendants/ancestors of him in Elsweyr? None that I am aware of, but who knows where future writing takes us.
  5. vizari9570 asks: what were the inspirations behind the biomes we've seen so far in the rim? Our Rim is inspired by the novels, as well as information on Elsweyr that existed in the lore before ESO, as the core of our setting was created long ago before it came out. This is where we take stuff like the towers of Riverhold and its wheat fields, the Steppes, and Rimmen's look itself. Our biomes are the results of visual development by artists & experimentation by our level designers over the years, there are no strong ties to RL references, we balance the looks of them out little by little. Something that did come back regularly in the early days was making sure Anequina was distinct from Hammerfell's looks as they are both desertic regions, leading to our more rocky/grassy direction and leaving Hammerfell with the sand and cool plants. Additionally, since the Rim borders Cyrodiil, it needs to look plausibly in between their side of the border and the harsher deserts in Anequina south of the Rim. Some plants we have have been chosen for gameplay reasons such as providing alchemical ingredients or justifying agricultural production that existed in the region's lore, like olive trees and wheat fields.
  6. Jo.A. asks: will BS Elseywer wait for Cyrodill to come out to launch their pre-release so we can walk from Cyrodill to their pre release? No. We do not wait for other provinces, even if we are sharing a worldspace with Cyrodiil. What happens before a pre-release is that, when the area is fully developped, we make a copy of the mod & strip everything outsides of the pre-release area from that copy, before releasing it. Additional QA can be done on the stripped copy, but ideally we want the stripped copy to not need further modifications. This means that pre-releases can be shipped regardless of the progress done on the full map. Also, even if Cyrodiil's devs are crazy good, it's still a massive province - waiting for one of the biggest maps in BS to be 100% done so we can ship a little piece of a smaller map would be silly.

Not 100% aimed at us, but still related:

  1. ramblingdad7764 asks: What is the next specific big thing each project is trying to complete next? For Elsweyr as of typing this, at least for us artists, it's a finished first pass on the exteriors. The base building blocks are nearly done, but we will need lots of work on architecture sets and additional assets to complete the biomes. For the narrative team, it's finishing the quests and NPCs for the pre-release. In practice, settlements are being created starting small and going further up to big cities, while the leads work on the narrative design aspect of the region & of creating and maintaining lore documentation, a hefty task given the size and age of the project. We hope to be able to show you guys those crafty progress metric slideshows Cyrodiil has created the template for some day!
  2. Jo.A. asks: will any dragons show up in the BS regions? We do not want any dragons in Elsweyr.
  3. dDdD-rj7gx asks: How many creatures can we expect to have custom animations? It looks like Manticores and Spider Daedra use base-game animations now, which might restrict what they should be capable of. Correct! For many creatures, the vanilla animations are placeholders, meaning we would welcome new animations for them to replace the basegame ones used eventually. This strongly depends on if we have animators and implementors able to create said new animations and add them ingame. Elsweyr currently does not have anyone available for this on the team, so for now, placeholders it is. It isn't ideal, but it's functional. For the record, our Manticore is already using a custom skeleton, allowing for its long tails - vanilla's Sabertooth cats lack it. So, the answer to "how many creatures" is...as many as we can find the workforce for. Any animators reading this? ;)
  4. niIIer1 asks: will BS mods include survival mode support? also Heat mechanic for hammerfell or elsweir for example? Extremely likely, as Bruma had it. Unsure of how heat could be added. There might be issues with the base mode not working for our custom assets as they lack vanilla's flags. As it is a commonly used mod, it is a common request and despite our stance on not focusing on 3rd party support, we tend to make sure said support is possible. Unfortunately I do not have the skillset required to give further details, as I don't know how coding this stuff works.

That's it for now! Happy to answer other questions in the comments. I'm hoping the people who asked will find this post, and if they don't, that other onlookers will find it interesting. Cheers & many thanks for your support. ~ Sotha Sil, of Elsweyr

I love the work that’s going into all the projects shown this modcon. Spoiler

Upvotes

This mod con has shown a lot of fruits of labour and I’m wholly psyched for even the slightest bits of progress to be made, the one thing that has tripped me out to mention as constructive criticism is some of the Voice Acting; call me a prick if you want, I just think it’s a bit immersion breaking when you have a good voice actor playing a role paired with another voice actor using their natural accent just reading off a script.

I hope some form of communication can be done around trying to portray the characters the teams have made in a natural/better way, I don’t even care about the mic quality as some actors are actually getting in character, whereas some aren’t (but I may not be aware of whether it’s just placeholder for the time being, to which i hope it is).

I get that it’s a labour of love, and there’s a lot of things people are dedicated to having done to make a final product, just this is so ambitious and I’d hate for others to be disappointed with areas that aren’t reigned in on like Voice Acting work, considering how much goes into making

Like take for example (not for straight comparison), some of the SkyrimRP clips I come across are kinda similar, where you have legitimate people playing a character and they end up rage baiting a random online and they respond back in their natural accent calling them a chud. Like it’s roleplay, not all get that I guess, but the mod is centred around Role Playing.

Ramifications of ES VI on BS: Iliac Bay

Upvotes

Since the widely believed setting of the Elder Scrolls 6 is to be in Sentinel, what does that mean for Beyond Skyrim: Iliac Bay? I recognize that Elder Scrolls 6 may take place far into the future, but it could very well change the lore in ways that would make Beyond Skyrim: Iliac Bay mostly non-canon in ways that are less negligible than Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil and Beyond Skyrim: Morrowind. I realize I may be taking this way too seriously lol

Are we going to have to wait until the release of Elder Scrolls 6 before we can get a full release of Beyond Skyrim: Iliac Bay?

Beyond Skyrim: Bruma on PlayStation

Upvotes

Yesterday night, Bethesda decided to update Skyrim, increasing The gigabyte-cap for consoles. Something else it did, which is very interesting for PlayStation-owners, is remove the restrictions imposed on them by Sony all those years back when it came to modding.

Seeing as the restrictions are fully gone now, and new mods bringing unique weapons, spells and other items are being added every hour, is there a chance that Beyond Skyrim will extend its mods to the PlayStation Creation Club, seeing as the mod is already possible to play on Xbox ?

Does anyone else really wish the Devs would update Wares of tamriel with more weapons and Armor

Upvotes

It would make the wait for a project release less soul crushingly dull, I've followed other modding projects that have drip-fed content and it makes it so much more enjoyable as a fan, there must be so many finished assets, that have been finished for the best part of a decade, I was a 10-11 year old playing modded SSE on my xbox when bruma came out, I've spent half my life waiting for BS: Cyrodiil and I'm not complaining about the wait but come on they could give us some crumbs, idk not a hate post I've just been thinking this for years and getting the Bretic leather set from Iliac Bay got me so much more excited for the project, genuinely might start praying to the nine for a release lol
