Depends what your goals are. No harm in isolating from the very beginning in my opinion. Helps you learn movements better down the line and a muscle is a muscle at the end of the day. But why would you isolate your biceps when you could do chin-ups and also train your lats? Why would you isolate your triceps when you could do dips or close-grip bench presses? Etc.
Because it depends on alot of different factors from leverages to genetics. If you have naturally gifted arms your arms can grow well from only compounds. That's not the majority of people though. A chinup is still a back movement before a Bicep movement.
