How many scoops do you do in a day?

u/ToosterReeth 11h ago

As many as you need to hit your protein goal, that's the only answer that ever matters

Or if you're generally curious about others, I usually have 2-3 (or about 75g)

u/icedearth665 10h ago

If you need to have 75g of protein coming from whey you should reevaluate your diet

u/trixtah 7h ago

If you just made that comment in a fitness thread then you should reevaluate your lack of knowledge next time you try and chime in

You don't know his weight nor his goals nor his lifestyle. People always be making comments like this when talking about gym/diets when they don't know shit about the why, and even then that's a totally normal amount for bodybuilding purposes

You try hitting 250g without smashing the protein shakes.

Also whey isn’t the only protein base available these days.

Eddie Hall over here, giving us advice on macro's.

Until just a few months ago, the federal RDA of dietary protein for adults was 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight. For a 150-pound adult, that’s around 55 grams of protein a day, or the equivalent of an 8-ounce steak. The newly revised dietary guidelines instead recommend 1.2 to 1.6 grams per kilogram, raising that 150-pound person’s recommendation to 80 to 110 grams a day.

You straight up have zero idea of what you speak. You should delete your post.

I'm 6'4 so yes I need a higher than average protein amount and this fits my lifestyle, but thanks for your concern uninformed stranger

It’s gonna depend on the type of protein and brand.

But I used do take mass gainer back in the day. It was about 1400 calories with 4 scoops and water. I would use whole milk instead, throw in some peanut butter, some banana and some other fruits. Ended up being around 2100 calories and I would drink it right before bed.

u/dgjapc 10h ago

Serious question, how were your shits?

u/_bk_adv 10h ago

Had to take a fiber supplement. I developed an impaction once and that was absolutely brutal dealing with. Imagine trying to shit out brick of poo the size of a softball.

u/dgjapc 10h ago

No, I don’t think I will.

u/Droctagon316x 10h ago

Ok well imagine a large lego brick like a house brick size then

u/Mobile_Throway 4h ago

Too late. We all know you did.

u/MaxxDash 3h ago

Do it

u/PhoenixRisen95 3h ago

happened to me when i was a kid. bevause i didnt drink enough water. i will never forget that.

u/eightslipsandagully 10h ago

The problem with a lot of mass gainers is they maltodextrin as a bulk source of calories/carbs

u/dgjapc 9h ago

I recently learned maltodextrin has a glycemic index that’s nearly twice that of table sugar. Many processed food manufacturers will sneak it into their sugar-free products, but it’s absolutely terrible for blood sugar. Diabetics beware.

u/eightslipsandagully 4h ago

I'm not diabetic but I noticed I was getting the worst rush and crashes after drinking it. Decided to just eat more instead lol

u/Imnotveryfunatpartys 7h ago

Well hey, insulin is an anabolic hormone

u/dgjapc 7h ago

Two sides to every coin, right?

u/Mobile_Throway 4h ago

Which is great. As long as you're sensitive to it.

u/_bk_adv 10h ago

Probably. I haven’t taken any in years. I don’t think the brand I used is even made anymore. MusclePharm.

u/nleachdev 9h ago

Did you have to force it down and go to bed bloated? My biggest issue is if I want to smash a two scoop shake, I either take 30+ min to finish, or force it down quicker than 30 min and feel bloated as fuck

u/_bk_adv 6h ago

I originally was forcing it, then I gave up. Eventually I just started drinking half at night and finishing the other half after breakfast.

u/fugazzzzi 4h ago

Eating 2100 calories right before bed? Your digestions slows down during sleep. Wouldn't that cause indigestion, disruption of sleep, heartburn, and cause you to get fat?

u/johnny-faux 10h ago

blend up a 1,000 calorie shake with 80 grams of protein. makes every thing so much easier!

i blend up bananas, berries, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, oats, peanut butter, chia seeds and protein powder

u/workoutnerd 10h ago

This is the way. I like the chia seed add, might use that.

u/Manhattan_24 10h ago

I use the Ryse cinnamon toast cereal one. If you use two scoops and three cups of the Fairlife lactose/fat free, it's like, almost 90G of protein and like 650 calories.

u/Nick_pj 8h ago

Focus on grams of protein in the shake, not scoops.

u/butsuon 8h ago

Depends a lot on how big you are or how big you're trying to be.

Sometimes, the answer is "yes" many scoops.

u/KYLE_FREELAND 7h ago

Adding on here: add egg whites!

My home shake includes two scoops of whey isolate, 4 oz egg whites, and 8 oz fairlife whole milk. It is disgusting, but it packs ~80g of protein and ~400cals
